Church plans OK’d

Construction of a new church building is expected to begin with groundbreaking Sunday, March 14, following the approval of the Messiah Lutheran Church large scale development plan by Pea Ridge Planning Commission members March 2.

Andy Ward, chairman of the building committee, and William Platz, WR Consulting, the engineer, presented the plans to the city, saying they had addressed all concerns expressed at the tech review meeting.

The 4,300-square foot building is planned for 15315 North Arkansas Highway 94, just north of Blackjack Corner.

“We’re trying to hire local as much as possible,” Ward said of the construction crews.

In other business, the mayor gave the oath of office to new Planning Commission member Heather Clark.
