— The 148th anniversary of the Battle of Pea Ridge, the outcome of which saved Missouri for the Union, will be commemorated Saturday and Sunday, March 6-7, at Pea Ridge National Military Park.

Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman stated that the Battle of Pea Ridge, along with those at Donelson and Shiloh, was key to all subsequent events of the Civil War.

Events, including infantry and cannon firing, start at 10 a.m. and will take place every half hour until 4 p.m. Saturday and until2:45 p.m. Sunday.

In addition, there will be a wreath-laying ceremony at 10 a.m. Sunday. The visitor center will be open with new exhibits throughout.

The Webb Collection of Civil War-era items will be on display from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday only.

Due to the increased number of vehicles on the park tour road for this event, no horses or bicycles will be allowed.

The park is located 10 miles north of Pea Ridge on U.S. Highway 62. Admission is $5 per person or $10 per carload, cash or check only.
