Editorial Times awarded 1st place in state competition

— Judged first in general excellence among small weekly newspapers in Arkansas, The TIMES of Northeast Benton County garnered 22 awards at the recent Arkansas Press Association Convention held joined with Mississippi and Tennessee press associations last week. The awards were given at a luncheon in Tunica, Miss.

The TIMES was first published Jan. 6, 1966.

Privately owned for many years, it has also been owned by Community Publishers Inc. and WEHCO Media before becoming part of the Northwest Arkansas Newspapers LLC.

It is with great honor and humility we receivethese awards, realizing it is because of the community and its support, that we enjoy this privilege.

Journalists at four local daily newspapers and five weeklies now published by NAN were also awarded.

The dailies - the Benton County Daily Record of Bentonville, the Rogers Morning News, the Springdale Morning News and the Northwest Arkansas Times of Fayetteville - won 42 awards.Weeklies - the Gentry Courier Journal, the Gravette News-Herald, the Herald Leader of Siloam Springs, the White River Valley News of Elkins, and the Weekly Vista of Bella Vista - won 39 awards.
