Summer History Camp

Openings are still available for the Shiloh Museum’s “1800s History Day Camp,” from 9 a.m. to noon July 12-16. For kids ages 6-9, the camp features games, crafts and food from the 1800s. Each day will feature a different theme, including Native Americans, pioneers, the Civil War, railroads and Victorian fun.

Cost for the camp is $45 for Shiloh Museum members and $50 for non-members.

Space is limited, preregistration and payment is required.

LifeWriters Program

“What Brought You Here?”, readings by members of LifeWriters memoir writing group, will be presented at noon Wednesday, July 21, at the Shiloh Museum of Ozark History in Springdale. Memoir writers will read original stories of how they came to live in Northwest Arkansas.

Living History Workshop

Living history professionals Ian Beard, Doug Kidd and Billy Nations will present a workshop on how to do living history presentations from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 31, at the museum. The cost for the workshop is $15, which includes lunch.

Beard is the adult education, living history and volunteer coordinator at the Old State House Museum in Little Rock; Kidd is owner of Border States Leather Works, which specializes in historical reenactment equipment;

and Nations is an interpreter at Historic Washington State Park in Washington, Ark.

Workshop attendees will learn the basics of how to do research, develop characters and presentations and work with the public. Upon completion of the workshop, attendees will be eligible for apprentice-level certification by the Arkansas Living History Association.

Ozark Quilt Fair

Entries are now being accepted for the 33rd Ozark Quilt Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at the museum. Quilters and quilt lovers are invited to display new and antique quilts for show and sale on the museum grounds. Cost is $10 for exhibitors. Cash prize Viewer’s Choice awards will be given for first, second and third place winners in both newand antique quilt categories.

MONTHLY MEETINGS

Railway Society

The Boston Mountain Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 15, at the museum.

Writing Group

LifeWriters, a group for people interested in writing the stories of their own lives or those of family and friends, will meet at 10 a.m. Monday, July 5, and Monday, July 19, at the museum.

Civil War Roundtable

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July22, at the museum.

Photo Identification Group

The Shiloh Museum’s Photo Identification Group will meet from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 24, at the museum to continue identifying people, places and events in northwest Arkansas photos taken over the last 40 years.

Sacred Harp Singers

The Northwest Arkansas Sacred Harp Singers will meet at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, July 25, at the museum.
