PRHS Alumni Day set for July 10

Former students and teachers welcome

— The fifth annual Pea Ridge High School Alumni Day, sponsored by the Pea Ridge High School Alumni Association, is set for Saturday, July 10, in the high school cafeteria.

Activities at the all-years reunion will begin at 9 a.m.

Saturday with coffee and donuts. A drawing for prize baskets will be held each hour, and a 50-50 drawing will conclude the planned activities at 2 p.m. A light lunch provided by Subway of Pea Ridge will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Alumni in attendance will elect three people from their number to serve on the board of directors.

This year, the class of 1960 will observe its 50th year since graduation, and the class of 1985 will have its 25th anniversary. If members of the PRHS class of 1935 are present, this will be the 75th anniversary of their graduation.

Afternoon entertainment will be provided by Brightwater Junction Bluegrass Band, which includes PRHS alumnus Steve Jordon on the fiddle.

Alumni Day is designed to allow those who have connections with Pea Ridge High School through the years to reconnect with their roots, renew contacts and friendships with those with whom they went to school and to keep in touch with current developments in the Pea Ridge schools.

Invitations are extended to teachers, administrators and staff members who have worked in Pea Ridge schools in past years and those who are currently involved in the high school.

Alumni Day proceeds benefit the Alumni Scholarship Program. The support of PRHS graduates has funded an increased number of Alumni scholarships each year since 2007.

Four members of the 2010 PRHS graduating class were recently awarded $1,000 Alumni scholarships to begin their college careers this fall. They are Mary Beard, Katelin Denny, Noelle Littrell and Kayla Talburt.

The Pea Ridge Community Fair will also be going on during the week leading up to Alumni Day. Alumni who are in town July 7-10 may want to take in the Pea Ridge Fair on the old school grounds downtown.

Evening hours are unscheduled and graduating classes and clusters of classes are encouraged to pursue theirown dinner plans and other class reunion activities.

Everyone coming for Alumni Day is invited to bring along school yearbooks, school pictures and other items saved from school days. Tables will be available for displays.
