NWACC recognizes achievements

Three area college students were recognized May 6 for distinguished academic achievement at Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville.

Students included Uriah Greer of Gateway, associate of arts; Tanna Johannsen of Garfield, associate of applied science/respiratory therapy; and Shawn E.

Rogers of Pea Ridge, certificate/ EMT paramedic.

Hickman named to Dean’s Lis

Codi N. Hickman was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2010 semester at the University of Central Arkansas at Conway. Recognition requires at least a 3.5 grade point average.

Hickman is a 2008 graduate of Pea Ridge High School. She is the daughterof Dan Hickman and granddaughter of Dean and Minta Messer, all of Pea Ridge.

Lee graduates from CofO

Lindsay Wisley Lee, daughter of George Fillmore Wisley of Rogers, graduated from College of the Ozarks, Point Lookout, Mo., during the 2010 Commencement exercises May 9. Lee received a BA in Theatre Ministry. Lee is a 2005 Pea Ridge High School graduate.

Open shop at PRHS

Current and prospective agriculture students at Pea Ridge High School will have an opportunity to work in the shop this summer during Open Shop on Friday, June 11, July 2, July 16 and July 23.

Students may work on a variety of projects ranging from their SAE projects where welding or other skills are needed to their computer record books, public speaking practice, the outdoor classroom project and ag mechanics skills practice. The facility will open at 7:30 a.m. and will not close until all students have gone for the day.

Perry Mason, agriculture teacher and FFA advisor, said he is interested in meeting new high school students and talking about the coming school year.

Parents are welcome to attend.
