Farmers’ market changes

— Farmers and craftsmen open the backs of their trucks and vans to display their wares every Thursday afternoon. Set up in the green space north of the Emergency Services Building, the market is just west of the four-way intersection of Curtis Avenue and Slack Street.

A few changes have been made to make the Pea Ridge farmers’ market more accessible for local farmers.

Sarah Jones will run the market as she is committed to our location and growing the market, said Nadine Telgemeier, councilwoman and inspiration behind the venture. There will be no fees or commissions to sell produce, Telgemeier said.

“This is perfect for the backyard gardener with a bountiful harvest. In addition, crafts and other wares can be sold withno fees or commissions, but the state does have regulations for items like baked goods (need a state-certified kitchen) and craft vendors have to report sales tax,” Telgemeier said, saying that no city business permit is required.

The market is open from 3-6 p.m. Thursdays.
