Pea Ridge FFA Banquet awards outstanding students

— The annual Pea Ridge FFA Banquet was held Thursday, May 13, and was a great time with good friends and delicious food.

The banquet kicked off with the 2009/2010 FFA president Kelsey Parmenter welcoming guests. Johnny Simpkins gave the benediction before everyone was dismissed to eat Famous Dave’s BBQ. The guest speaker, Eric Roller, did an incredible job with his speech, informing the group how important it is for the country to get out there and work. Many proficiency awards were handed out.

The following students won the awards: JeremyRoberts, outstanding reliability; Zack Schooley, outstanding ag. mechanics;

Shayden Rizley, outstanding ag. power systems;

Trey Wilkerson, Mr. Agriculture; Katlin Patton, star greenhand; and Kelsey Parmenter, star FFA member.

Magdalena Munoz received the FFA scholarship of $500.

In a special ceremony, Mrs. Jane Phillips was awarded the honorary chapter member for all her help this year.

At the completion of the awards, the 2010/ 2011 FFA officers were officially installed. They are: Chase Thetford, president;

Brandi Galvan, Wes Harper and Daniel Baker, vicepresidents; Katlin Patton, secretary; Madison Rizley,reporter; Taylor Long, treasurer; Johnny Simpkins, sentinel; Wesley Woollard,assistant reporter; Billy Hern, parliamentarian; Auti Galvan and Kolby Wiltgen,historians; and Kelsey Parmenter, junior advisor.

The new officers officially closed the meeting with the Pledge Allegiance to the Flag.
