Taking care of the skin is esthetician’s expertise

PEA RIDGE — There’s a new face at Hands-on Chiropractic Clinic, and she can help you with yours.

“This isn’t just fluff and buff, its targeted therapeutic skin care,” said Christina Kessler, a licensed esthetician offering new skin care services at the office in Pea Ridge.

Kessler is originally from Chicago, Ill., and has lived in the area for 16 years. She is also a registered nurse and a licensed master massage therapist, as well as a Yoga and Zumba instructor. She says she is constantly learning about new innovations in the skin care industry, the education never ends.

“I never say (skin care is for) anti-aging, we all age - this is just aging gracefully” she said.

In her softly lit, quiet room, Kessler offers products and treatments that help clients with fine lines and wrinkles, Rosacea, acne and hyper-pigmentation. Her most requested treatments, she said, are hydrating facials and enzyme peels.

Most treatments and products are not covered under insurance, as they are often considered cosmetic. But Kessler said she hopes one day it will be seen as preventative medicine, as the skin is the largest organ in the body and taking care of it now can aid in the prevention of skin cancer.

As the hot summer months continue, Kessler said hydration and mild exfoliation are important.

“You’ve got to keep your skin hydrated by keeping your body hydrated,” she said.

She said wearing a hat and sunscreen when going outside is a must, and she offers hydrating facials to bond moisture to the skin.

At the close of the summer, she offers progressive peels and micro dermabrasion to erase some of the damage done by the sun.

Kessler is also licensed to offer Novalash - individual eyelash extensions.

“I was an operating room nurse for 20 years, I have very steady hands,” she said.

Since she is a nurse, she is also able to carry medically enhanced acne products containing a much higher concentration of active ingredients than can be purchased over-thecounter.

Lipossage is an alternative to liposuction, and can result in inch loss throughout the body. Kessler warns, however, this is not permanent and those inches will return.

Other services she offers include Bellanina face lift massage, sudatonic infrared body wrap, chemical peels, waxing and threading.
