Library Notes | Children awarded for summer reading

Wednesday, July 21, 2010

— The Pea Ridge Library’s Summer Reading Program concluded Saturday, July 3, with a picnic and awards ceremony at the Pea Ridge City Park. There wered a total of 17 participants this year: five children from pre-school, two from kindergarten, five from second grade, two from third, two from fourth and one from fifth.

The winners were Kylie Emberson, pre-school; Michael Benson, kindergarten; Freedom Laycox, second grade; Jesse Tillman, third grade; Danielle Dishaw, fourth grade; and Becca Tillman, fifth grade.

All winners received a gift card from Barnes and Noble Book Store and a special treat bag. All the participants received a treat bag with workbooks to compliment the theme of Make a Splash - READ! Children and parents enjoyed pizza and watermelon. We are already looking forward to next June when we have the next Summer Reading Program.

I would like to offer a special thank you to Razorback Pizza here in town for providing us with such great pizza (they even delivered so that it was nice and hot). I recommend them when any group is having a get together;

they are very community minded.

The library has many great books here; we have most books on the bestsellers list. We have also been blessed with a great amount of donations and we are able to sell the duplicates to help raise money for the next project here at the library.

Please remember that from now until the start of school, we are still having our summer reading time at 10:30 a.m. every Thursday.

Library hours are 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday; 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday, closed at noon for lunch. The library phone is 451-8442.

Hope to see you soon.
