Jane Arend

Jane Arend, 81, of Bentonville, died Friday, July2, at her residence in Bentonville. She was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Vinton, La., to Archie Courmier and Azema Broussard Courmier.

Arend was a wonderful wife, mother and community leader. She was a courageous fighter. Arend will leave everyone with very fond memories of her contagious spirit. She was an early “ambassador” who helped promote Bentonville to the wives and families who were coaxed to a sleepy town to believe in the Wal-Mart dream. She was a leadership member in the Northwest Arkansas Symphony Guild, active in the Bentonville Garden Club, a Bentonville public schools volunteer, tutoring young children in math and reading. She loved the library’s learn a bunchbrown bag lunch program, was involved in the Peel House original restoration, the Downtown Bentonville renovation projects and believer in quality art opportunities for the children in the Bentonville schools which included the funds to help build the Arend Art Center at BHS.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Ferold Arend; a daughter, Debi Havner and her husband, Galen, of Bentonville; three sons, Curtis Arend and his wife, Theresa, of Rogers, Scott Arend of Rogers, Mike Arend and his wife, Wednesday, of Garfield;

three grandchildren, Alice Jane Havner, William Henry Arend and Cineca Spring Newburn; and one great-grandchild, LennonNewburn.

Private services will be held.

Memorials may be made in honor of Jane Arend to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Rd., Springdale, AR,or to the Bentonville Public School Foundation, 500 Tiger Blvd., Bentonville, AR 72712.

Betty Louise Ash

Betty Louise Ash, 83, of Pea Ridge died Tuesday, June 29, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born Aug. 16, 1926, in Kansas City, Mo., to Miles Edward Chancellor and Lola Lavina Fitchugh.

She moved to Pea Ridge from Desoto, Kan., in 1986 to make her home. She enjoyed arts and crafts and sewing, was a homemaker and attended Calvary Baptist Church in Kansas City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Ash in 2000;

and sister Marie Stevens.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Brouhard and his wife, Karen, of Shawnee, Kan., and Bob Brouhard and his wife, Jo Dee, of Avoca; two grandchildren;

and four great-grandchildren

Visitation was at noon Friday, July 2, before the service.

Services were at 2 p.m.

Friday, July 2, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Pea Ridge with pastor Daniel Dickard officiating.

Burial was at Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield.

Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Marilyn Sue Harris

CEMENT, Okla. - Marilyn Harris, 63, of Cement died July 3, in Anardarko, Okla. She was born July 20, 1946, in Fayetteville to Calvin and Maxine Danford Sutton.

She was a member of Faith Assembly of God Church in Springdale.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Harris; her mother, Maxine Sutton of Springdale; two sons, Kevin Robinson and his wife, Christy, of Springdale, and Jerry Musteen and his wife, Cindy, of Garfield; a daughter, Tonja Hartsfieldand her husband, Robert, of Bentonville; a brother, Bob Sutton of Springdale;

and a sister, Diana Caler of Springdale; and eight grandchildren.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 5, at Sisco Funeral Home in Springdale.

Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Laverty Baptist Church in Cement, with arrangements by McRay Funeral Home in Chickasha, Okla.

Burial was at 10:30 a.m.

Tuesday, July 6, in Bluft Cemetery in Springdale.

Jay Lynch

Jay Lynch, 77, of Pea Ridge, died Monday, July 5, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. He was born Nov. 5, 1932, at Brightwater to Teddy Wade Lynch and Cherokee Mayfield Lynch.

He served in the U.S.

Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of VFW Post No.

8109. He was a heavy duty mechanic most of his life, was general manager for Beaver Lake Concrete andrefurbished municipal swimming pools.

He was a member of Brightwater United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, James Michael Lynch;

and two sisters, Bonnie Graham and Lena Jo Council.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Lynch of the home; one daughter, Debbie Berkley and her husband, John, of Pea Ridge;

two grandchildren, Jennifer Muro and James Jones; and one great-grandson Cobe Muro.

Visitation is set for 10 a.m. to noon Friday, July 9, at Sisco Funeral Home Chapel in Pea Ridge.

There is no memorial service planned.

Cremation arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Rd., Springdale, Ark., 72762.
