— Brian Nave, former city councilman, current Planning Commission member and vice president of the Pea Ridge Optimist Club has bid farewell to the community he and his family have called home for the past five years.

Nave accepted a position as vice president of commercial lending at Arvest Bank, Van Buren, Ark. He formerly worked atArvest in Pea Ridge.

Mayor Jackie Crabtree commended Nave: “Brian was fairly young when he started with the council. He brought a little unique perspective to it with his background in banking and finance - also, on the Planning Commission. He will be missed and we wish him the best of luck.”

Nave, 30, moved to Pea Ridge in October 2005, to accept a position at Arvest Bank, Pea Ridge.

“I heard that there was a position available on the City Council and applied,” Nave said. He was appointed by the mayor, but was defeated in his bid for re-election by John Cody.

“I was still interested in serving the city in some capacity and heard there was a position open on Planning Commission,” he said.

Nave also was involved in the Bentonville Chamber of Commerce, the Rogers/Lowell Chamber of Commerce, and coaches T-ball in town.

He served as the candidate forArvest Kiss A Pig, the American Diabetes Association fundraiser.

“I just like interacting with people, being involved in something that’s worthwhile.

You have to have a passion for something. My passion is just to get to know people. I want to be recognized as someone who makes a difference. I don’t just want to be someone who goes to work 8 to 5 and then sits on the couch. I have greater aspirations than that,” Nave said. “I want to help spend time with my boys and help shape their future. It’s their community, too.”

He and his wife, Sarah, have two boys, Brant, 4, and Toby, 2.
