Eagles soared over ’Hawks

— Led by Bailey Counts’ 19 points - including 17 in the first half - and a solid effort off the bench by the foul-prone Eagles, Huntsville took over sole possession of first place in the 4A-1 Conference with a 65-42 win over Pea Ridge on Friday night.

Huntsville (17-2, 5-0) led 14-12 near the end of the first quarter.

The Blackhawks (11-5,3-1) closed the Huntsville lead to as few as 13 points in the third quarter, and they held the Eagles to only three field goals in the quarter.

“I thought they were beating us all night,” Pea Ridge coach Charley Clark said. “I know the scoreboard showed it being kind of close there in the first quarter, but they were outplaying us, outworking us and outcoaching us.
