Lady ’Hawks win one in Hoops Classic

— Despite not scoring a point in the second quarter, the Lady Blackhawks pulled away from the Eureka Springs Lady Highlanders in the second half at the Berryville Holiday Hoops Classic Tuesday, Dec. 29. The final score of the second round game was 43-29.

Senior Erin Duvall scored 12 of Pea Ridge’s 29 second-half points and led the Lady Blackhawks with 14 points overall. Senior Kayla Bangs followed with 12 points.

The Lady ’Hawks lost to Pocahontas 40/49 Monday.

The Lady ’Hawks faced the Crane Lady Pirates in the third round of the tournament and lost 28/37.

“We were in foul trouble the entire game,” coach Heather Wade said. Shantel Morgan and Kayla Bangs fouled out and Deborah Beard and Lexy Paryzek had four fouls each.

“I saw improvement from the first day to the last day. We were improving,” Wade said.

The snow canceled Sunday’s practice and school for Monday and Tuesday. It was yet to be determined if the Lady ’Hawks would play their Tuesday night game against Gentry. The next scheduled game is Friday in Berryville.
