Food pantry opens doors

— Loaves ’n Fishes food pantry opened Tuesday at New Life Church in Pea Ridge.

The pantry, started by church members Greg andPam Cecil, will be open from 9 to 11 a.m. the first and third Tuesday of every month.

“Our goalis to not only serve people’s basic needs of food, but we’re growing to be able to supply clothes, household needs and toiletries,” Greg said.

Pam said they would like to work towards being a center for disaster relief and supply needs beyond food items. The shelves are currently stocked with non-perishable food items ready to be distributed to those in need. The beginnings of the pantry were made possible through donations from church members.

The church is currently accepting donations, in monetary form or non-perishable food items.

The pantry serves thePea Ridge and Washburn, Mo., school districts.

Persons seeking assistance are asked toprovide proof of residency to qualify.

“We would love to have partners in Pea Ridge,” Greg said, adding this is not just a church program, but a community program available to all in the area who need assistance.
