Pauline Boepple

Pauline Boepple, 92, of Pea Ridge died Friday, Feb. 19, at Concordia Care Center in Bella Vista. She was born Dec. 12, 1917, at Indianapolis, Ind., to Paul Henry Straisinger and Essie Carmen Spencer.

Mrs. Boepple moved to Pea Ridge from Tucson, Ariz., in 1971 to make home. She was the librarian in Pea Ridge for 15 years, a homemaker and a member of Cornerstone Assembly of God in Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Boepple, and a sister, Gail Busby.

Survivors include two sons, Donald Boepple of Germany and Richard Boepple of Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter Alice Boepple of Pea Ridge; one sister, Glenna Miles of Dayton, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 22, at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Pea Ridge with pastor Jeff Connett officiating.

Judy Kay Bradford

Judy Kay Bradford, 66, of Rogers, died Feb. 19, 2010, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born March 13, 1943, to Freeman and Rubye Vaughn in West Frankfort, Ill.

She was a grade school teacher and counselor in the Rogers schools system.

Survivors include her husband, Gordon; a brother, Bobby Vaughn of Garfield; and sister, Tedra Spaw of Rogers.

Alice J. Carter

Alice J. Carter, 60, of Garfield, died Feb. 19, 2010, at The Maples in Springdale.

She was born Nov. 5, 1949, in Leonard, Kan.

She was a member of Garfield Church of Christ and taught Sunday School there. She was president of Delta Zeta Sorority in college, charter member of the TOPS Club in Garfield and a Girl Scout Troup Leader.

Nurses and aides elected her resident of the month at The Maples.

She was preceded by her husband, Louis Carter; mother, Norma Jean Parker Morgan; her adopted parents, Bus and Nell Johnson; and one son, Patrick Carter.

Survivors include one son, Jim Carter of Harrison; one daughter, Anne Kearney and husband, Jeffery, of Fayetteville; two brothers;

Donnie Morgan of Rogers and Tom Johnson of Texas; and one sister, Betsy Zadorozny of Cedar Vale, Kan.

Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at Garfield Church of Christ with Gary Blackburn officiating.

Burial was in Reddick Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.

Calvin Russell Nichols

Calvin Russell Nichols, 95, of Pea Ridge, died Friday, Feb. 19, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. He was born Nov. 29, 1914, at Blue Jacket, Okla., to Winfield Scott Nichols and Sarah Ellen Holcomb

He moved to Pea Ridge in 1932 to make his home and raise poultry, dairy and beef cattle. He enjoyedfarming, gardening, photography, traveling the U.S. and was a member of the Pea Ridge United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Eugene Nichols, and one infant sister, Irma Nichols

Survivors include his wife Frona “Johnny” Kate Nichols of the home; three sons, Jerry Nichols and wife, Nancy, of Pea Ridge, Bennie Nichols and wife, Myrtle Ann, of Rogers, and John Nichols and wife, Linda, of Pine Valley, Utah; one daughter, Donna Lee Ellison of Vernon Hills, Ill.; a step-daughter, Karen Inlow of Tontitown; and 11 grandchildren.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Services were at 2 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Pea Ridge United Methodist Church with the Rev. Matt Daniels and the Rev. Randy Featherston officiating.

Burial was in at Bentonville City Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Jasper E. Slagle

Jasper E. Slagle of Spring dale died Thursday, Feb.

18, 2010, in Fayetteville. He was born Sept. 30, 1942, in Sargent, Neb., to Jasper and Rozena Fricke Slagle Sr.

Jasper was a farmer andhe was a member of First Baptist Church in Springdale where he was very active. He graduated Comstock, Neb., High School where he was class valedictorian and he attended Boy’s State.

He was preceded in death by his parents;

and his stepfather, Alvin Hughes; three sons, Paul Jay Slagle on Dec. 6, 1966, David Dean Slagle and twin brother Daniel Dale Slagle on March 13, 1968; and one sister, Wilma Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Slagle of the home to whom he was married Nov. 17, 1963; one son, John Edward Slagle and wife, Deborah, of St. Charles, Mo.; two daughters, Krista Lu Deans and husband, Sid, of Pea Ridge, Ark., and Melissa Slagle of Elkins, Ark.; one brother, William Lee Slagle and wife, Diane, of St. Libory, Neb.; two sisters, Twila Donalson and husband, Rex, of Heldreth, Neb., and Lila Day of St. Libory, Neb.; four grandchildren, Andrew Thomas Slagle, Vanessa Kaye Chandler, Melanie Anne Chandler and Benjamin Morales.

Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Hyde off officiating.

Visitation will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Broken Bow Cemetery in Broken Bow, Neb., with the Rev. Charlie Foster officiating.

Earl C. Willis

Earl C. Willis, 88, of Benton, Ill, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2010, at his home.

He was born Jan. 14, 1922,in Big Stone Gap, Va., to Earl and Edna (Catron) Willis.

He married the former Ila Darlene Wright on Dec. 3, 1948.

Mr. Willis led a storied life and accomplished much beginning with helping his parents by working during the Depression years to help support the family. He fought in World War II as a B-25 bomber pilot in the Pacific Theatre, starting in Hawaii and going throughout the Pacific to eventually bomb Japan near the war’s end.

He graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1950 with a degree in mechanical engineering.

He was an innovator and inventor with multiple patents.

He worked in various aspects of the coal industry throughout his life. Willis and Harry Williamson began Coal Age Service Corporation in Whittington, Ill., before moving the shop to West Frankfort.

Mr. Willis was a charter member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Benton, Ill., where he was an active member.

He served God in many ways wherever he lived, including serving as a deacon, doing bus ministryand song director.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ila; and a sister, Terry Cherry.

Survivors include his seven children: John Carroll Willis and wife Jackie, of Benton, Ill., Dr. Jerrold Catron Willis and wife, Deborah, of Mt. Vernon, Ill., James Clayton Willis and wife, Joy, of Benton, Ill., Juni Caroline Avery and husband, Robin, of Benton, Ill., Joel Clelland Willis and wife Cindy, of Bellingham, Wash., Jill Cosby Butler and husband Richard, of Mascoutah, Ill., and Jeffrey Colin Willis and wife Elizabeth of Rogers, Ark; 22 grandchildren including Megan, Alison, and Elijah Willis of Rogers, Ark; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Caroline Spurlock and husband Kenneth, of Middlesboro, Ky.; one brother, the Reverend Samuel Willis and wife Linda, of Bowling Green, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 18, with pastor Ron Cremeens officiating at Immanuel Baptist Church in Benton, Ill.

Visitation and funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010, at the First Baptist Church, Rogers, Ark.

Burial was in the Ruddick Cemetery, Garfield, Arkansas.

Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, Ill., and Sisco Funeral Home, Pea Ridge, Ark., were in charge of arrangements.
