’Hawks 28/Shiloh 43

Pea Ridge junior Blackhawks lost to the Shiloh Saints in the final game of the Junior High District Finals, 28-43. The game was close after the first quarter, the ’Hawks trailed 12-14.

“We came out and played hard, but we did turn the ball over too many times and just simply did not finish our lay-ups and inside shots,” coach Quentin Snoderly said.

The game remained close at half-time with the ’Hawks trailing 18-21. The third quarter looked good as they pulled ahead 22-21, with 2:48 left in the quarter.

“We left their shooters open on a couple of shots and they made us pay for it,” Snoderly said.

After the third quarter, the ’Hawks trailed 22-28.

Once the fourth quarter began, the ’Hawks gave a tremendous effort in catching up, but the efforts were nullified by the hot hand from the 3-point line.

“I believe they hit three or four 3-point shots on us in the fourth quarter alone, which was too much for us to overcome,” Snoderly said.

The Pea Ridge ’Hawks end the season with 16-10 record and as runners-up in the District Tournament.

’Hawks 49/Gentry 34

Pea Ridge (14-9) won big against the Pioneers 49-34 on Feb. 6. The ’Hawks jumped out to an early lead after the first quarter (14-5) and never looked back.

Jacob Hall led all scorers with 11. Other scorers included Isaac Mangrum with 9 points, Dusty Morgan 7 and Joseph Adams, 7.

Camron Tidwell and Dayton Winn both pulled down 7 rebounds each.

“We played well as a team, and did exactly what we had to do to win the game,” coach Quentin Snoderly said.

District Tournament: ’Hawks 46/Berryville 20

“It took a quarter for us to really get started, but after that we stepped up the tempo which worked in our favor,” coach Quentin Snoderly said.

The ’Hawks won 46-20 pushing their record to 15-9 on the season. After the first quarter, it was a tied game at 9-9. Half way through the second quarter, the junior Blackhawks made a few steals and converted them into lay-ups and had a 23-12 lead. The third quarter was owned by the ’Hawks outscoring the Bobcats 18-2. Joseph Adams, Camron Tidwell and Isaac Mangrum each finished with six rebounds which was a major part of the game plan to crash the boards.

Scoring was led by Jacob Hall and Joseph Adams with 12 points each. Isaac Mangrum scored 8, Camron Tidwell 6 and Dayton Winn 6. With this win, the junior Blackhawks advance to the semi-finals of the District Tournament to play Gravette.

’Hawks 59/Gravette 33

The Pea Ridge Blackhawks (16-9) had another big night as the defeated the Gravette Lions 59-33.

“We really played as a team tonight,” coach Quentin Snoderly said. “We had several assists in the game which tells me we played well together, and we finding the chemistry that we need to have here at the end of the season.”

At the end of the first quarter, the ’Hawks led 11-6 battling back and forth in a fast-paced game. At halftime, the ’Hawks took a commanding lead 30-14 behind the scoring of Joseph Adams, Isaac Mangrum and Jacob Hall.

“We did another terrific job on the glass pulling down 28 recorded rebounds,” coach Quentin Snoderly said.

Leading rebounders included, Isaac Mangrum 7, Camron Tidwell 5, Joseph Adams 5, Dusty Morgan 4, Jacob Hall 4 and Nathan Wilson 1.

“One thing that I told our team is that when we do a good job of rebounding good things happen to this team,” Snoderly said.

“That was not only true for tonight, but also the entire season.

The ’Hawks were led inscoring by Isaac Mangrum with 15 points, followed by Jacob Hall with 11, Joseph Adams 10, Dusty Morgan 8, Camron Tidwell 7, Dayton Winn 6 and Evan Tillman 2.

’Hawks 40/Prairie Grove 48

In the Feb. 3 game against Prairie Grove, the junior Blackhawks had the lead at half 24-22, but came out in the third quarter and played mediocre basketball, according to the coach.

“We had several miscues, assignment breakdowns and started turning the ball over,” Snoderly said.

Jacob Hall and CamronTidwell both had 9 points, Dusty Morgan 7 points, Evan Tillman 6 points respectively.

’Hawks 39/Berryville 35

The Feb. 5 game against Berryville was a close contest for four quarters which is exactly what coach Snoderly said he anticipated. Berryville led after the first quarter 5-7 with shear determination and hustle.

“We had several opportunities for lay-ups but did not capitalize,” Snoderly said.

The junior ’Hawks managed to pull ahead at halftime 18-17. The game wasback and forth the second half and were very fortunate to have escaped with a victory at home against the Bobcats.

“Coach Lea does an excellent job with his players and that showed on the court tonight,” Snoderly said.

Jacob Hall stepped up big against them again and poured in 13 points, Camron Tidwell scored 9 and Joseph Adams ended with 8. Isaac Mangrum, Dusty Morgan, Evan Tillman, Levi Pitts and Dayton Winn all played important roles on the team for us to notch another win.
