NEBCO seeks chili cooks

GARFIELD - The NEBCO Volunteer Fire Department’s annual Chili Cook-Off is set for 11 a.m.

to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, at the NEBCO Community Center in Garfield..

Mark your calendar and join the fun, enjoy the various chili recipes then vote for your favorite as the People’s Choice winner.

If you have always felt your chili recipe is a real winner, call NEBCO Volunteer Fire Department at 359-3134 and enter the competition.

Battle of Pea Ridge anniversary

The 148th anniversary of the Battle of Pea Ridge will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 6,at the Pea Ridge National Military Park. Park entry fee will apply.

Pea Ridge National Military Park preserves the site of and commemorates the March 1862 Civil War battle that helped Union forces gain control of Missouri.

The park is located east of Pea Ridge on U.S. Highway 62. Admission is $5 per person or $10 per vehicle.

Quilters gather

BUNKER HILL, Mo. - The Bunker Hill Community Club is busy quilting for ladies in the area, working on items for the next quilt show in May, and planning the next lunch on the square which will be Feb.

22. Interested persons are invited to join the group at the community center to quilt or do other handwork or just to visit each Thursday of the month starting at10 a.m.

Einert to speak at Hobb

Retired U of A professor of Landscape Architecture Dr. Al Einert will present an entertaining and enlightening program on the folklore of Ozark plants in the visitor center at Hobbs State Park - Conservation Area at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20.

Dr. Einert will discuss myths and facts about plants native to Northwest Arkansas.

The public is invited.

This program is a continuation of the Friends of Hobbs monthly Speaker Series.
