Bunker Hill Quilt Club

BUNKER HILL, Mo. - Angela Wilkinson, a relative of one of the Bunker group, is the leader of the Family Readiness Group for the C Troop 2-13 Brigade stationed in El Paso, Texas, at Fort Bliss.

She and the wives of some of the other troop members get together before the scheduled return of the military men coming home from serving a year in Iraq and determine what they can do to help make the troops’ return more pleasant and to let them know they are appreciated. The married troops returning will meet up with their wives and children, while the single men will be housed in two bedroom apartments on base. All of the troops will have one week of reintegration training and then another three to four weeks of inspecting their returning equipment from Iraq to make sure it is in good working condition. After this time, the troops have a 30-day leave to go home to their families across the U.S.

The Bunker Hill Quilt Club decided they would also like to remember our troops and help make them feel comfortable in their apartments. The club purchased several items to be shipped to Angela. She and the other wives will then make up welcome home baskets and put them in the rooms for the troops who are scheduled to return in April and May. For questions about this project, call on Thursdays at 223-5555.
