STEPHEN EARLE HARRISON, age 67, of Little Rock died February 1, 2010. He was born in Little Rock, on May 25, 1942, to the late, Richard Garland and Edwin McDaniel Harrison. He was an owner of Welsco Inc., an Industrial Gas and Welding Company, he began working there in 1960 along side his father and brother. During his tenure, he expanded Welsco, Inc. into a regional company. Welsco was truly a family business, and Steve was respected amongst his employees. He retired in 2001. He was also a founder of Airgas, Inc. Steve was the youngest President of IOMA (International Oxygen Manufacturing Association), he also served on several boards of CGA (compressed gas association), and NWSA (National Welding Supply Association). He was very well respected in the Industrial Gas and Welding Supply Industry. Steve loved to play in his workshop and was quite a craftsman. His favorite past time was playing with his grandkids as they were the love of his life. He also enjoyed duck hunting with his son-in-law.

He is survived by his wife, Donie Brown Harrison, his children, Brian Harrison (Elizabeth) of Batesville, Ark., and Angela Harrison King (Petey) of Little Rock, his brother, Richard Harrison (Myra) of Ono Island, Ala., and sister, Rebecca Harrison of Orange County, Calif., and his grandchildren, Lauren, Hayden, and Grant Harrison and Haven and Ashton King.

There will be a visitation held on Thursday, February 4, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ruebel Funeral Home. GREGORY MARK MATTHEWS, 46, of Jacksonville died Friday, January 29, 2010. He was born December 24, 1963, in Little Rock to Virginia Ann Strickland Matthews and the late James C. Matthews.

In addition to his father, Gregory is preceded in death by one son, Christopher Mark Matthews. Gregory is survived by his mother, Virginia Ann Matthews of Jacksonville, two brothers, Mike Matthews of Jacksonville and Tim Matthews of Dixon, Kentucky, as well as a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

BETTY MAE RUTLEDGE, 75, of Jacksonville, Ark., born on September 29, 1934, to the late Emmett and Estelle Gwin Pearl, passed away on January 31, 2010. Betty was a member of the 50+ group of Bayou Meto Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Junior Dean in 1968; William L., Anthony L., and Jonathan P. Snider; Jeffrey G. Bailey, and Harrell J. Pearl. She is survived by one son, Emmett D. Rutledge of Jacksonville; four daughters, Ida M. Oakley, Deborah L. Bailey, and Betty S. Rutledge of Jacksonville, and Donna L. Snider of Bloomfield, Ky.; three sisters, Jo Ella Lambertus Miller, of Jacksonville; Ludell Abbott of Gravel Ridge, and Lucille Chatham of Dunwoody, Ga.; five grandchildren, Christopher L. BRUNETTE DROUGHTER SHACKELFORD of Little Rock,Ark., departed this life on Thursday, January 28, 2010, the widow of Samuel Shackelford. She was born on July 17, 1942, in Lake Village, Arkansas to the late Rev. Nebraskaand Lucille Stevenson Droughter. As a 1960 graduate of St. Bartholomew Catholic School, Brunette was a surgical nurse at UAMS Hospital until an early illness interrupted her career.

Her survivors include: one sister, Mary Droughter (Kenneth) Jones of LR; two brothers, Nebraska Droughter of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Henry Droughter of Harrisburg, Pa.; and a host of other relatives and friends; one brother, Harry Lee Droughter preceded her in death.

RON W. STROTHER, 61, of Little Rock died Sunday, January 31, 2010. He was born November 6, 1948, at Hot Springs, Arkansas, a son of Lester C. and Floy Mae Mc-Guire Strother. Ron was an allstar baseball player at his high school inAnaheim, California, and played college baseball at Fullerton Junior College. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Henderson State University, Master’s Degree from the University of Central Arkansas, Masters in Banking from Louisiana State University and his Executive Master’s Degree from Stanford University. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Ron had served as President, Chief Operating Officer, and as a director of Home Bancshares, Inc. since 2004. He also served as Chairman of the Asset Quality Committee and Asset/Liability Committee of Home BancShares. He had more than 35 years of banking experience, which included serving as Regional Chief Executive Officer over Central Arkansas for Arvest Bank Group (Bentonville) from 2000 to 2004, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Central Bank and Trust Company (Little Rock) from 1996 to 2000, President and Chief OperatingOfficer of First Commercial Bank (Little Rock) from 1991 to 1994, President of First Commercial Mortgage Company from 1984 to 1987, and President of Commercial National Mortgage Company from 1981 to 1984. He was a very active long-time member of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce. Special involvements with the Chamber included serving on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, serving as Treasurer in 2008 and 2009, and as Chairman of Membership Development in 2003 and 2004. As Membership Chairman, he chaired the Chamber’s Total Resource Campaign and was recognized as Individual Champion in 2003. He served as Chairman of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee in 2005.

An active member of Fifty for the Future, Ron served in many capacities, including Treasurer, Chairman of Long Range Planning, and as President in 2006. He was active in the YMCA for 25-30 years and was Chairman of the Board of YMCA of Metropolitan Little Rock from 1999 - 2000. He also received the Johnny Heflin Humanitarian Award in 2000, which is given for outstanding leadership. Ron was also a former board member of St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Strother and Mickey Strother.

He is survived by his wife, Paula Acton Strother; two sons, Michael (Kelly) Strother of North Little Rock and Lee (Lauren) Strother of Little Rock; two daughters, Kaitlin Lensing and Alexa Strother, both of Little Rock; a grandson, Noah Strother; a brother, Lee (Joyce) Strother of Victorville, California; and a host of other family and friends.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Fellowship Bible Church in North Little Rock with Dr. Craig Loibner officiating. Graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday at Liberty Springs Cemetery in Scotland, Arkansas.

Pallbearers will be: Lee Strother, Michael Strother, Tracy French, Mike Hagen, David Strassele, Pat Patterson, Bill Roehrenbeck and Gary Head.

DENZIL MAX “DENNY” YARBROUGH JR., 58, of Little Rock,passed away on February 1, 2010. He was born April 29, 1951, in Kenosha, Wisconsin.

He is survived by his wife Lynda Yarbrough; his daughter, Elizabeth (Chris) Sears; his fatherDenzil (Gean) Yarbrough; his sister, Jane (Richard) Powell; his brother, Terry Yarbrough and the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Kayla and Hunter Sears. He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jane Bostic Yarbrough and his son, Shannon Max Yarbrough.

Denny served in U.S. Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1972. He was a graduate of UALR and worked at Thomas & Thomas as a Certified Public Accountant since 1983. Denny was a member of Westover Hills Presbyterian Church. He served on the Wye Mountain Water Facilities Board. Denny was a member of the Elks Lodge, AICPA and ASCPA.

BIGELOW - Edgar W. Jeans, 71, of Bigelow died Monday, February 1, 2010. He was born at England, Arkansas, on August 19, 1938, the son of Edgar W. Jeans, Sr. and Berlia Archer Jeans. He was a retired maintenance engineer for the UnitedStates Postal Service in Northeast Arkansas. He served twenty years with the United States Navy and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He loved to travel and fish and was a “Mr. Fix It.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Herman Jeans; and a sister, Peggy Varner. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Madeline Devlin Jeans; three sons, Edgar W. Jeans III (Gina) of Benton, Mark Jeans (Sharon) of Hensley and Chris Jeans (Christy) of Bigelow; six grandchildren, Magen, Brian, Sean, Cody, Anna and Stephanie; a great-grandchild, Autumn; two sisters, Dora Shelton of England and Patricia Shelton of North Little Rock; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many friends.

CABOT - Mary Ella Steele, 83, of Cabot, Arkansas, left us to join her Lord on Sunday January 31, 2010. Mary was born March 21, 1926, in Memphis, Tenn., to the late W.H. and Bealuh (Dennis) McCarter. Mrs. Steele was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 56 years, Zane Steele; brothers James and Hugh; and sisters Lucille and Margaret, of Memphis, Tenn. She was a dedicated member of Zion Hill Baptist church for 33 years.

She is survived by one brother, Hal McCarter and his wife Emma of Memphis, Tenn.; four children, Dennis Steele of Charlotte, N.C., Beth Brewer of Houston, Texas, Forrest Steele and his wife Jennifer of Jonesboro, Ark., Alan Steele and his wife Jala of North Little Rock Ark. Other family members, Charles and Melverdia Steele of Salton City, Calif.; Martha and Jimmy Rainwater of Bauxite Ark.; nine grandchildren, Brian, Tanya, Andrew, Bryon, Moffatt, Randi, Ellen, Marki and Sarah; four greatgrandchildren, Jacque, Jacody, Olivia and Jada, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mother will always be remembered for her devotion to Christ and her family while here on earth. We wish to thank the staff of Arkansas Hospice for their loving care of Mother during her last days. We also wish to extend special thanks to the Zion Hill Baptist Church family and the Auburn Hills community for the love, prayers, and supportextended to the entire family.

Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow; I am the diamond glints on snow; I am the sunlight on ripened grain; I am the gentle autumn’s rain. CARLISLE - Our sweetheart, Charles “Charlie” Eugene Hall,52, of Carlisle went to be with his Lord on February 1, 2010. He was born in Chipley, Georgia, to Joseph Francis and Frances Louise Dunlap Hall. He was a graduate of Carlisle High Schooland retired from Remington Arms plant in Lonoke where he worked for 25 years. Charlie was a deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church in Carlisle where he taught children’s Sunday School, was Sunday School Superintendent and was a member of the choir.

Survivors include his wife Georgette Hall of Carlisle, two sons Michael Thurber of Cabot and Timothy “T.J.” Hall of Carlisle, mother, Louise Hall, sister, Kathy Hall, brothers, Joe Hall of Yellville, David (Jean) Hall of Carlisle.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, February 3, at Boyd Funeral Home. HUNTSVILLE - Katherine Louise Mason Toliver, of Huntsville, Ark., died on Sunday, January 31, 2010 while at her son Brad’s home in Sand Springs, Okla. Louise was born October 7, 1931 in Little Rock, Ark., to Perry and Katherine Mason. September 23, 1950, Louise married Joe T. Toliver of Little Rock, Ark. She graduated with her Bachelors and Masters in Education from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Louise taught in the Little Rock Public Schools for 17 years, then later retired to Huntsville, Ark. She was a member of Faith Southern Baptist Church, the Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council and The Arkansas Retired Teachers Association.

Surviving with her husband is a son, Brad, and wife, Cindy; daughter, Tina Phillips, and husband Steve; daughter, Katherine Salazar, and husband, Robert. Also surviving is nine grandchildren: Will, Dave, Tyler, Emily, and Holly Toliver, Austin Phillips, Mason McGrew, Nicholas and Hannah Salazar.

MORRILTON - Elvis Arthur Robertson, 99, of Morrilton,passed away Monday, February 1, 2010. He was born April 28, 1910, at Rosecreek, Conway County, Arkansas to Theophilus (Op) and Mary (Ashcraft) Robertson. He was thefifth of 11 children and lived on Petit Jean Mountain for 25 years before moving to Morrilton in July 1935. He was a member of Morrilton Downtown Church of Christ, business owner, farmer, cattleman, landowner, and after ending the cattle business in December 1989 the land was planted in pine.

He is survived by his wife of 76 1/2 years, whom he married on August 7, 1933, Iva Lee (Webb) Robertson; best friend and son, Arthur Lee and wife Sharon (Parette) Robertson of Morrilton; two sons-in-law, Dr. Wayne Biggs and Lee Roy (Pete) Newman both of Morrilton; three sisters, Edith Deeter of Little Rock, Eula Osborne of Ft. Smith, and Eunice Stewart of Little Rock; seven grandchildren; 10 greatgrandchildren; one deceased great-grandson; five great-greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Elvis was preceded in death by his parents;two daughters, Betty Jean (Robertson) Newman in 2006, and Phoebe Ann (Robertson) Biggs in 2009; three brothers, Earl Robertson, Robert Robertson, and Elmer Robertson; and four sisters, Ethel Counts, Evie Gilley, Ettie Gilley, and Erma Robertson.

PINE BLUFF - L. Sandy Wall, 59, of Pine Bluff passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010. He was born Dec. 21, 1950, in Pine Bluff to the late Harold and Lora Hollis Wall.

He was a beloved brother and uncle. He was a number one sports fan in all sports. He loved going to the Razorback games and watching them on TV. He also liked to travel and fish whenever he had the chance. He loved working with kids. He spent many years working at the Boys Club teaching kids how to play football, basketball, teaching them how to swim, and many other things the kids needed to learn at the Boys Club, along with Bud and Riggie. Sandy was not the richest fish in the pond but he was the one with biggest heart. Many people who were once kids and are now grown will miss Sandy as well as his brothers and sister and his many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sandy had 20 years of service with the Correctional Services and was a security officer with the Jefferson County Juvenile Center.

Sandy is survived by four brothers, Ferrel “Pete” Wall of White Hall, Jonny Lynn Wall of Bull Shoals, Ark., Donald Wall of Jackson, Tenn., and Mark Wall of Pine Bluff, Ark.; sister, Wadie May Martin of Greenbrier, Ark.; and many nieces, nephews, greatnieces and great-nephews.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, in the First Baptist Church-White Hall by Cranford Funeral Home with Bro. Clarence Fell officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. till funeral time.

ROGERS - Don Hogan Rountree, 93, of Rogers, Ark., passedaway on Friday, January 29, 2010 at Ashley Health and Rehabilitation in Rogers. He was born on January 30, 1916, in Pisgah, Arkansas, to Micajah Rountree and Minnie Ola Steed Rountree.He graduated from Arkadelphia High School and attended Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. After college he taught school and coached in Jessieville, Ark.

He served in the U.S. Army during WWII in Europe. He served as a captain in the chemical corp. Toward the end of the war he was placed over German POWs. While on a military leave he married Scyblene Glover on July 29, 1943. They were married for 65 years. After the war he chose golf as his profession. He began his career as an assistant golf professional at the Texarkana Country Club and later served as head professional at the El Dorado Country Club for eighteen years. In 1965 he went to work for Cooper Communities supervising the construction of the first golf course in Bella Vista where he also was their first professional. In 1971 he became involved in Prairie Creek Country Club as a family business. He was a lifetime member of thePGA. He served as President of the South Central Section of the PGA in 1969. In 1995 he was inducted into the Arkansas State Golf Association Hall of Fame for his service to the game of golf. In 2002 he was inducted to the South Central Section Senior Hall of Fame. Hogan taught countless people to play, love and enjoy the game of golf. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and brother. He loved teaching golf and reading his Bible. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Scyblene Rountree; infant daughter, Carolyn Jane Rountree; two brothers, Steed Rountree and John Rountree; one sister, Aletha Green. Survivors include his two sons, Don Rountree and wife Bonnie of Rogers, and Bobby Rountree and wife Lenee of Rogers; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Bruce and husband David Bruce, and Sarah Rountree; and one grandson, Seth Rountree.

A memorial service will be held 12:30 p.m., Friday, February 5, 2010, at First Baptist Church of Rogers with Dr. Wes George and Reverend Tommy Hinson officiating. A private burial will be held.
