Blackhawk Colors Day Queen to be named Friday

— Blackhawk Colors Day will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 7, in the Blackhawk gym at Pea Ridge High School.

Seven senior girls were selected by their peers in the senior class to serve on the Colors Day Court.

One will be selected by a vote of the boys’ basketball team to serve as queen. The queen will be announced Friday night. The seven are Deborah Beard, Claudia Contreras, Tabitha Frasier, Megan Harris, Lindsey Jackson, Nikki Pinto and Emily Sweaza.

Deborah Beard, 17, is the daughter of James Beard and Annette Beard, both of Pea Ridge. A native ofPea Ridge, Beard lived in southeast Missouri for 10 years, returning to Pea Ridge in 2006.

She is involved in basketball and track.

She likes to hang out with friends and family and is a member of First Baptist Church, Rogers.

She said the best thing about being a senior is being able to cut in the lunch line.

After high school, Beard intends to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

Miss Beard plans to be escorted by Cameron Thompson.

If she could be anything she wanted to be, she would be: me.

Claudia Contreras, 17, is the daughter of Mercedes Montalvo.

A native of California, she has lived in Pea Ridge for six years.

She is a member of the varsity cheer squad, cross country, Book Club and National Honor Society.

Outside of school, she enjoys shopping and hanging out with her best friends, Maria, Tabitha and Jarrod.

She said the best thing about being a senior is finishing the school year early.

Miss Contreras plans to be escorted by Jarrod Wheeler.

If she could be anything she wanted to be, she would be: cheer coach.

Tabitha Frasier, 17, is the daughter of Jay Frasier and Trina Rothfus.

She is a native of Pea Ridge.

She is the president of FCCLA, a member of the National Honors Society, the FBLA and the Book Club.

Outside of school, she enjoys participating in the Garfield Church of Christ youth group, shopping, reading, texting and hanging out with her best friends, Maria, Claudia and Jarrod.

After high school, she plans to attend the University of Arkansas, earn a bachelor’s degree in earlychildhood education and eventually teach kindergarten.

She said the best thing about being a senior is finishing the school year early.

Miss Frasier plans to be escorted by Levi Roughton.

If she could be anything she wanted to be, she would be: a superhero.

Megan Harris, 17, is the daughter of Misty Harris and Dean Harris of Bella Vista.

She is a nativeof Oklahoma City and has lived in Pea Ridge for 10 years.

She is involved in basketball, volleyball, softball, cross country, track, president of National Honor Society, vice president of the Student Council, SEEK and is president of the senior class.

Outside of school, she said she absolutely loves to read and enjoys playing the piano.

She said the best thing about being a senior is probably the ease of her schedule. I also LOVE cutting in the lunch line!

Miss Harris plans to be escorted by Kasey Cooper.

If she could be anything she wanted to be, she would be: a pirate!

The most interesting book she’s ever read: “A Great and Terrible Beauty” by Libba Bray.

Lindsey Jackson, 17, is the daughter of Ron Jackson and Kristen Wann, both of Pea Ridge. Anative of Arizona, she has lived in Pea Ridge for five years.

She is co-captain of the varsity cheer squad, involved in the yearbook/ journalism class and is the laundry girl for the senior high boys basketball team.

She enjoys spending time with friends and family, hanging out with her boyfriend, shopping and going on vacation.

She said the best thing about being a senior is having a ton of blow-off classes.

She plans to attend NorthWest Arkansas Community College and then pharmacy school.

Miss Jackson plans to be escorted by Scott Fisher.

If she could be anything she wanted to be, she would be: a professional bank robber.

The most interesting book she’s ever read: “Pride and Prejudice.”

Nikki Pinto, 18, is the daughterof Frank and Leigh Ann Pinto.

She is a native of Rogers and has lived inPea Ridge for 18 years.

She is involved in National Honor Society and golf.

Outside of school, she enjoyscompetitive shooting, spending time with family and friends.

After high school, she plans to get her bachelor’s degree, attend graduate school and start a career.

She said the best thing about being a senior is being so close to graduation and continuing her education in college.

Miss Pinto plans to be escorted by Andrew Woollard.

If she could be anything she wanted to be, she would be: a professional shooter and have her own tactical school.

The most interesting book she’s ever read: “The Scarlet Letter.”

Emily Sweaza, 17, is the daughter of Kim Sweaza and Rick Clark of Pea Ridge.

She is a native of Pea Ridge.

She is a member of the varsity cheer squad, track and assists Lindsey in washing the laundry for the boys’ basketball team.

Outside of school, she likes to spend time with her friends and family, watch “Hannah Montana,” “Forever” and “iCarly.”

She said the best thing about being a senior is having few classes that matter and making memories.

Miss Sweaza plans to be escorted by Dakota Coan.

If she could be anything she wanted to be, she would be: professional hunter.

The most interesting book she’s ever read: “The Uphill Climb.”
