Cora Irene Gore

Cora Irene Gore, 88, died Dec. 14, 2010. She was born on March 23, 1922, in a farmhouse near Colfax, Wash., to Carl William (Bill) and Clara Belle Matson.

She was the only girl with seven brothers. Her three oldest brothers all died in infancy within a couple of months, two due to the Spanish flu pandemic of 1917 and one due to an aneurism.

She was preceded in death by her parents and six of her brothers.

Cora met her husband of 64 years in Medford, Ore., during World War II, where she was a Western Union telegraph operator and he was a staff sergeant who commanded an armored reconnaissance vehicle.

They married after a two-week whirlwind courtship.

Following college, Jim and Cora bought an old car, fixed it up and headed west with the idea of stopping and working along the way.

They never made it past their second stop of Arkansas, where they settled and raised their family.

Cora served as the office manager for LandscapesInc., in Rogers, Ark., for a number of years where she worked with her son, John.

Survivors include a brother, Hubert and wife, Joann, of Longview, Wash.;

her twin sons and their wives, James W. Gore and wife, Sandra, of Pea Ridge, John F. Gore and wife, Connie, of Bentonville; and daughter, Annette I. Gore and fiancé, Terry McCauley, of Rogers, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Mindy Ellington and husband, Nathan, of Bella Vista, Ark., John F. Gore and wife, Hillary, of Longmeadow, Mass., Keri Johnson and husband, Eddie, of St. Louis, Mo., Steven Cauthren and wife, Alexis, of Bentonville, Ark., Tiff any Chambliss and husband, Scott, of Cave Springs, Ark., Brandon J. Gore of Phoenix, Ariz., Lindsay L. LaCaze and husband, Dallas, of Cassville, Mo.; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at St. Theodore’s Episcopal Church in Bella Vista with the Rev. Ken Parks officiating.

Interment was in St. Theodore’s Columbarium.

Frances Lakin

Frances Lakin, 79, of Washburn, Mo., died Friday Dec. 17, at her home.

She was born April 4, 1931, at Eureka Springs to Cleo Thomas David and Dorothy Ludgenbeal David.

She was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital for many years in housekeeping. She was a Christian, enjoyed gardening and farm work.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ruffes Lakin; one daughter, Donna Burkett;

six sisters, Patsy David, Evelyn Brown, Lucille Bowman, Lavera Byers, Joada VanHook, and Berniece Evans; one brother, Roland David; one grandson; andone granddaughter.

Survivors include two sons, Tom Lakin and Debby, and David Lakin all of Washburn, Mo.; one brother, Ross David of Pea Ridge; two sisters, Stella Killer of Little Rock and Joyce Raymer of Pea Ridge; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 20, at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Graveside service was at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Ruddick Cemetery with the Rev. Anthony Lane officiating.

Leslie E. Wenger

Leslie E. (Les) Wenger, 77, died in his Wenger Mountain home on Dec.

13, 2010. He was born on Jan. 14, 1933, in Salina, Kan., to Edward P. Wenger and Rosa Miller Wenger.

In 1984 Wenger retired, and he and his wife moved to northwest Arkansas where he pursued his passion of fishing which expanded to teaching others how to catch trout on the White River.

The family expresses their deep appreciation for the entire and incredibly able and loving staff at Highlands, for the help and support of Washington Regional Hospice and for caregivers Carla Hency and Brenda Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Daniel E. Wenger; and his brother, Dr. Norman E.

Wenger.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Gay of the home; daughter, Diane (Wayne) Heinauer, granddaughter, Richelle Heinauer, Apache Junction, Ariz.; a grandson; brothers, Dr. Bruce E. (and Suzie) Wenger, Tulsa, Okla., and Virgil (and Jo) Wenger, Darien, Conn.; an aunt and uncle and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Ruth Virginia White

Ruth Virginia White, 72, of Springdale died Tuesday, Dec. 14, at New Hope Health and Rehab in Rogers. She was born Jan. 27, 1938, at Catoosa, Okla., to Truman Wilford Leach and Lorene Margaret Roberts Leach.

She retired from Emerson Electric after 31 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne White.

Survivors include one daughter, Judy Edwards and her husband, Terry, of Rogers; two brothers; two sisters; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at First Baptist Church in Garfield.

Burial was in Ruddick Cemetery.
