Student Corner Counselor is special

GARFIELD - This week I interviewed Mrs. Kristy Brown, our counselor at Garfield Elementary School. She is married to Marshall Brown and has three sons; Ethan, Griffin and Tyson.

Mrs.

Brown has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a master’s degree of professionalcounseling from Harding University. Before Mrs.

Brown came to our school, she was a children’s minister at Southside Church of Christ in Rogers and before that, she was a teacher at Bonnie Grimes Elementary in Rogers.

Besides being our counselor, Mrs. Brown also works part-time at the Flagstone Church of Christ in Bentonville.

She says that she loves it here at Garfield Elementary. She thinks that the students are amazing and the staff is wonderful. She also loves meeting new people from the community of Garfield. Mrs. Brown says that she had rather spendtime with the students than doing paperwork. Something that Mrs. Brown enjoys doing is watching her kids play sports and camping at Beaver Lake.

If she could do anything for our school, she would do something special for our teachers, staff and volunteers. They spend many hours making our school the best it can be. All of the teachers at Garfield think that Mrs. Brown is terrific, too. They say that she can get so many things done in such a short time and that she goes above and beyond to help all of the children at Garfield to feel safe and special.

I think Mrs. Brown is the best, too. I am glad that she is here at Garfield Elementary.
