THE TIMES LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

— Too much chlorine

Dear Editor,

You have a lovely town, but the water is almost pure bleach. If a little bit will do you a lot more is better, must be the theory.

What is that doing to babies?

Thank you.

Proud of Arkan”saw”

To the editor,

Reference the Concurrent Resolution No. 4 of 1881 which provides the proper pronunciation of the state’s name as to be pronounced as Arkan”saw, if I read it correctly. I therefore suspect that the proper pronunciation for a resident of this state tobe Arkansas”sawyer” not Arkansan. We are not from Kansas. I do understand that the Arkansas River is pronounced Arkan”saw” in Colorado, Arkansas in Kansas then back to Arkansa”saw” in our proud state, but to say that I am an Arkansan is an insult.

I was called an Arkansawyer from the time I was born in 1941 to the time I entered the military in 1959. I now return to live in my home state only to find that I am no longer from the “Land of Opportunity” and an Arkansawyer but from the “Natural State” were not much anymore is natural and to be insulted by being called an Arkansan.

Thank you for your time.
