The Pea Ridge School Board voted to charge $5 for use of the school gym for any non-school activities such as adult basketball practice. Floyd Walker was the only School Board member absent.

Marcia Cothran shot an eight-point buck the first time she had ever been deer hunting.

The vote on whether to purchase two historic downtown buildings for City Hall passed 197/136.

State trooper Keith Ferguson investigated a two-car accident on U.S.

Highway 62 south of Avoca which left one person dead, five injured.

The Pea Ridge School Board approved the 1982-1983 budget for $993,512.

The millage rate required to raise the income to meet the expenditures was retained at 62, the rate that has been in effect since 1974.

Five Blackhawk footballers were named to alldistrict teams. They were Fred Sutton, Paul Beeson, David Dye, Harvey Ricketts and Greg Fuller.

Wesley and Mike Billington were awarded 100 percent attendance awards at the Pea Ridge 4-H banquet.

Danny Parrish and Kelly Hale received high-point awards.

Seven area burglaries and the slaying of a Little Flock woman in her home have prompted Police Chief Sam Holcomb to warn residents to lock their doors.

Pea Ridge High School band director David Dickey, in his second year at PRHS, said there is more to band than music. “You’re teaching a child how to be responsible for himself.”

The Pea Ridge Area Ministerial Alliance has installed an angel tree at City Hall.

The Pea Ridge City Council approved a $2.1 million budget for 2001.

The increases were related to growth of the community, better neighborhoods and more civil servants such as new members of the ambulance service and the local police department.

Paul Simpkins took the oath of office for Pea Ridge fire chief replacing David Bass after being elected by his peers.

The second annual tree lighting ceremony was set for Sunday, Dec. 3, as city employees were busy stringing lights along the tops of buildings and building the city’s tree of lights downtown. The sesquicentennial sponsored the first lighting ceremony the previous year.

The Angel Tree was inneed of donations.

The Pea Ridge High School Class about 1913 or 1914 was pictured including Erin Wilson, Norma Ottinger, Eva Morrison, Anna Lambeth, Everett Rogers, Tina Gaines, Leona Lee, Noah Beaver, Alma Woods, Cooperider and Prof. Barron.
