Lady 'Hawks tromp Elks

— The Pea Ridge Lady Blackhawks defeated the Elkins Lady Elks Tuesday, Nov. 23, with a final score of 38-23. Early on, the Lady ’Hawks took the lead with junior Jordan Winn making the bucket. The game was all up hill from there.

Going into halftime, the Lady ’Hawks held the lead 15 to 12. Coming out third quarter, the ’Hawks stepped up their offensive game as well as defense. After knocking down shoots that were being missed the first half, the Lady ’Hawks came up with a total of 21 defense rebounds.

The girls never relinquished the lead, but it was with single digits until the fourth quarter.

“We did a good job in the fourth quarter because we held them to three points while we scored 10,” coach Heather Wade said.

“We also kept our turnovers down to three in the second half which greatly contributed to our win.”

Winn led the game with 17 points, Hargiss following with 8 and Harris added 6. The Lady ’Hawks are excited to go into breakwith a winning record.

Coming out as the underdogs this year, they areproving themselves with a 2-2 record. They will play again next week inthe Benton County Tournament that Pea Ridge is hosting.
