Young artists take home 1sts

— Pea Ridge elementary artists won eight first-place and eight second-place awards at the annual Benton County Fair Young Artists competition.

Five of the first-place winners were in the 6-yearold and younger division, with three of the blue ribbons going to kids in the 7-to 12-year-old division.

Monique Holley was declared the “Best of Show” artist in the 6 years andyounger category for her flowers in a basket marker painting. Masie Foltz, Vanessa Ollivier and Nalea Holliday were also blue ribbon winners in the 6 and younger competition, with Elijah Austin and Lauren West earning second place awards. All students are first-grade students this year at Pea Ridge Primary School.

Lorena Razuri, who will be going into the third grade, earned two first places in the 7-12 division with a charcoal rendering of two dancers and a tempera still-life painting.

Elizabeth Bryant’s pencil drawing of an owl also earned a first-place award as did Wyatt Weber’s colored pencil drawing of Elkhorn Tavern. Taking second-place ribbons were John Wesley Bross, Jaden Olguin, Miranda Morgan, Alayna Brown and Megan Turner.

This year marked the sixth straight year that a local student has won the “Best of Show” award in the 6 and under division.
