’Til Next Time | Paper towels used in abundance

Before another summer rolls around, maybe I should invest in shares in a paper towel factory, carpet shampoo, bottled water and Lysol disinfectant factory.

There are spilled water bottles on the carpet, in refrig, in car, lawn chairs and porch swings. Add to that, Kool Aid lemonade, Coke and root beer. Grandma is as bad as anyone for spills because it seems like when she reaches for something, it isn’t where she things it is.

By the time everyone is in the car, there are lights to be turned off, doors locked, burners doubled checked, refrig door closed, dogs in or out, whichever, route decided on, who sets in the middle and who did last time, how manybikes do we need to take, lawn chairs, towels, sun screen. I make sure I have hearing aid, glasses, cell phone, driver’s license and cash. Add this to bumped elbows, pinched fingers, bicycle chain grease, nose bleeds and bonks on the head, swallowing pool water, drinking too much water all at once, not drinking enough water - and seat belt frustration.

I thoroughly enjoyed the city parks this summer and give thanks to the people who started and over see it.

I do wish the city had done more planning ahead sothere would be more than one access street into that part of town. We watched the new bathrooms being built at the park. The new paint on the play ground equipment and some new swings. What we used the most was the trail because one boy could do several laps on a bicycle while I hiked one lap. It took paper towels to wipe sweat.

Then there ware sticky fingerprints, sweaty ones, used to wipe dirty ones, even health bars get sticky before they are gone, refrig doors, door handles, car door handles, dash boards and bicycle handles.

When summer draws to a close and the routing of school buses, after school snacks and homework return, I think I’m glad this doesn’t go on year round.

Then I remember, it’s the coming nine months for teachers. God bless them all !

We were pleased to have Jack and Judy Schaible as our guests Sunday at Brightwater. Our minister is suffering with an abscessed tooth and has to look forward to a root canal. We all know about those things and sincerely extend sympathy to him and to Millie Peters with a badly sprained ankle and Dottie Bledsoe with a banged up knee.
