PEA RIDGE NATIONAL MILITARY PARK

Bike with a Ranger and Caravan Tours

Pea Ridge National Military Park will hold a Bike with a Ranger program from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28. Come join a ranger on a bicycle ride through the park. The ride will follow the seven-mile paved automobile tour route.

Participants will be able to learn about the battle, watch wildlife and kids can earn their very own Junior Ranger badge. Participants will be required to wear a helmet and provide their own bicycle. The park does have five adult-size and five child-size helmets available for those that do not have a helmet. Be sure to bring plenty of drinking water.

The park is also offering “Drive through History,” a guided automobile caravan tour of the battlefield.

Participants will follow a ranger through the park in their own vehicles, stopping at various locations for an in-depth tour of the battlefield. Tours will begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Aug.

23, 24 and 25, and will last approximately two hours.

The park will also present a one-hour power point program, “Pea Ridge Commanders,” in the visitor center auditorium on at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28. For more information on any of these programs, call 451-8122 extension 226.

Admission is $5 per person or $10 per vehicle.
