Lena Fay Henry

Lena Fay Henry, 76, died Aug. 8 at her home in Washburn, Mo. She was born March 21, 1934, in the Cato community. She was the daughter of James Smith and Chlora Barrett Smith.

She was a lifelong resident of Washburn and a homemaker. She attended Cassville High School and married Ronald Gene Henry on July 9, 1952, in Bentonville.

Henry was a past member of Mission Baptist Church in Washburn for over 45 years and recently became a member of the First Baptist Church in Washburn. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, crocheting and jigsaw puzzles.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, and she enjoyed the simple things in life such as train rides and riding through Pea Ridge National Military Park, or as she referred to it the “Deer Park.” Everyone who knew her commented on how she was always smiling.

Henry was preceded in death by her parents, stepfather Luther Brown, her husband on Feb. 5, 1996, and one brother, Charles Smith.

Survivors include two sons, Billy Henry and Daniel Henry and his wife, Melinee, all of Washburn;

three daughters, Janis Hinde, and her husband Jerry, of Washburn, Bobbie Townsend, and her friend David Flanary, of Pineville, Mo., and Rebecca “Becky” Street, and her husband Ron, of White House, Tenn.; one brother, Donald Smith of Overland Park, Kan.; three sisters, Ruby Roque of Macklin, Ore., Opal Weathers of Cassville, who lovingly referred to Henry as “Lucy,” and Corena Hall of Republic, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host friends.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the White Funeral Home.

Memorial services wereat 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at White Funeral Home in Cassville with pastors Aaron Weibel and James Stewart officiating.

Pallbearers were Matthew Townsend, Jared Hinde, Christopher Henry, Jeffery Henry, Codie Harmon and Zachary Street.

Arrangements were under the direction of the White Funeral Home, Cassville.

William Edward Nell, Sr.

William “Bill” Edward Nell Sr., 67, of Pineville, Mo., died Aug. 9, 2010. He was born Nov. 7, 1942, in Lebanon, Mo., to Charles Raymond and Vina Mable Richardson Nell.

He was self-employed as a mechanic and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.

Survivors include his mother, Vina Mable Zebel of Rogers; two sons, Billy Nell and his wife, Peggy, of Rogers and Jimmie Cannady and his wife, Virginia, of Lowell; three daughters,Vicki Fields and her husband, Alvin, of Pineville, Patricia Dutton and her husband, Roy, of Garfield and Carol Dearring and her husband, Rick, of Lowell;

a brother; three sisters; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 14, at the House of God Church in Rogers.

Arrangements were by Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers.

Hester Roy “ Sonny” Woodring, Jr.

Hester Roy “Sonny” Woodring, Jr., 77, of Pea Ridge, died Tuesday, Aug. 10, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born Feb. 13, 1933, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Hester Roy Woodring Sr. and Flora Madge Morris Woodring.

He moved to this area in 1975 from Bethany, Okla., to make his home. He was a cattle farmer in White Oak Hollow and an automechanic. He played banjo for the Oklahoma City Country Jubilee, played with bluegrass and country music bands in Silver Dollar City and the streets of Rogers with the War Eagle Express. He played at the Stella, Mo., Senior Citizens Center, Snow’s Red Barn for many years and won many awards for his dobro picking. He was a member of the Pea Ridge Old Geezers Club and attended Lakeside Baptist Church and Winds of Worship Church both in Rogers.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara Woodring and two brothers, Richard and John Woodring.

Survivors include a daughter, Pam and her husband, Jerry, David of Rogers; two sons, Wesley Woodring of Oklahoma City and Charles Woodring of Greensboro, N.C.; one sister, Lou Hawley of Bethany; two brothers, Robert Woodringof Bethany and Bert Woodring of Oklahoma City;

six grandchildren, Shawna Woodring of Joplin, Mo., Crystal Woodring of Carl Junction, Mo., David Woodring of Austin, Texas, Kevin and Kristen Miller of Bentonville, Ryan and Julia Rusch of Fayetteville and Danielle David of Rogers; and numerous greatgrandchildren.

A graveside service is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at Antioch Cemetery, with pastor Scott Hill officiating.

A fellowship of family and friends will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Snow’s Red Barn following the service.

Cremation arrangements are by Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.
