Free legal aid available for Arkansans

— Legal Aid of Arkansas invites northwest Arkansas residents to schedule an appointment with a representative from Legal Aid.

Representatives will be available at the Jones Center for Families in Springdale from 6 to 8 p.m. the second Wednesday of August, or from 2 to 4 p.m. the last Saturday to learn more about the legal services that Legal Aid of Arkansas offers.

Legal Aid of Arkansas offers free legal help to low-income individuals and certain other qualifying individuals with civil problems and provides a live helpline to call and ask about Legal Aid’s services.

Legal Aid does not provide representation in criminal or immigration cases. Legal Aid of Arkansas is a non-profit organization dedicated to equal justice for all.

Legal Aid offers representation in tax law; family law including adoptions,divorces, custody, and domestic abuse; consumer law including bankruptcy, contracts, collections, and garnishments; housing law including evictions, landlord-tenant, home ownership, and foreclosures;

public benefits law including Medicare/Medicaid, social security, and SSI; and employment law including unpaid wages, discrimination, and unemployment insurance.
