BACK-TO-SCHOOL TAX HOLIDAY WEEKEND

Missouri and Oklahoma will have a state tax-free weekend beginning midnight Friday, Aug. 6, and going through Sunday, Aug. 8.

In Missouri, tax-free purchases made this weekend include clothing under $100, school supplies under $50, computer software under $350 and computers and computer equipment under $3,500.

Some cities and counties in Missouri elect not to participate in this weekend, city and county taxes may still apply. Such counties as Barry, Taney and Greene counties will not participate, as well as cities of Cassville, Joplin and Branson. In these locations, only state sales tax is waived.

In Oklahoma, tax-free purchases can be made throughout the state, and county and city taxes will also be waived.

Tax-free purchases include all shoes and clothing under $100 per item, but does not apply to accessories, special clothing or footwear primarily designed for athletic activity or protective use that is not normally worn except when used for athletic activity or protective use, or to the rental of clothing or footwear.
