New Lions Club forming in Pea Ridge

The Lions Charter Night Program and Banquet will be held at the Pea Ridge Middle School cafeteria at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 1.

The new Lions Club is in the organizational stages in Pea Ridge. Under the leadership of the Lion’s District Governor Earl Sears, the initial organizational meeting was held at the High School Media Center Thursday, March 18. Theinitial election of officers named Lion Jerry Nichols as president, Lion Ken Hayes as first vice-president, and Lion Bea Watkins as secretary/treasurer. Other officers will be elected prior to the club’s Charter Night Program, scheduled for May 1.

The featured speaker at the dinner will be past International Director Lion George Hazelbaker.

The program will feature the induction of the charter members of the new club, the presentation ofthe club charter, installation of club officers for the 2010-2011 year and an auction of donated items to raise initial funds for the club’s community service projects. The charter membership period will be open through the end of April. So far, 24 local residents have joined.

Those who join before May 1 will be included as charter members.
