Historical Pea Ridge ... A FRAGMENT OF AREA HISTORY

— Colonel Jefferson C. Davis, commander, 3rd Division, was promoted to brigadier general for his actions at Pea Ridge and transferred to the Army of the Cumberland. He began his military career as a private during the Mexican War and is not the same Jefferson Davis who was the president of the Confederate StatesHe died in Chicago in 1879.

Davis Street, named in his honor, runs north and south from East Pickens Street to Lee Town Road just east of North Curtis Avenue.
