— Fees waived at Pea Ridge National Military Park

Jonathan Jarvis, National Parks Director, announced that National Park Week will be April 17 to April 25.

Entrance fees, at all National Park areas, will be waived for the entire period, including Pea Ridge National Military Park.

“National parks preserve our heritage, promote recreational experiences, and provide places of quiet refuge,” said National Park Service Director Jon Jarvis.

“Most people live within a short drive of a national park so I encourage everyone to spend some time enjoying America’s Great Outdoors during National Park Week.”

Pea Ridge National Military Park will waive the usual $5 per individual or $10 per vehicle entrancefee for the entire period of time. The entrance fee-free week will be in addition to the usual fee-free days for National Public Lands Day on Sept. 25 and on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11.

Saturday, April 24, is also National Junior Ranger Day, where we encourage parents to bring their children out and kids can earn the new Pea Ridge Junior Ranger badge.

For additional information, call the park visitor center at 451-8122, extension 227.

Pea Ridge National Military Park preserves the site of and commemorates the March 1862 Civil War battle that helped Union forces gain control of Missouri. Administered by the National Park Service, the 4,300 acre battlefield is located east of Pea Ridge on U.S. Highway 62.
