Pair of local artists honored in Little Rock

— Pea Ridge first grader Jake Ingram and eighth grader Katie Nunley were honored by the Arkansas Art Educators Association as being among the top 72 artists for the 2009-2010 school term.

A reception and exhibition was held last week in Little Rock at the site of the newly renovated Arkansas Arts Studies Institute on Clinton Avenue in Little Rock.

Seventy-one artists and their parents and teachers were in attendance.

Ingram, a student of elementary school art teacher John McGee, submitted a tempera and oil pastel art work of the streets of Venice and was awarded first place in the first grade division of the Northwest Arkansas Regional Art Exhibition and Competition. Nunley, student of middle school art teacher Anya Bruhin, earnedsecond place honors in the Northwest Region and was honored in Fayetteville last month.

Both artists’ work will remain on public display at the Institutes public gallery at 401 Clinton Avenue, directly across from the Riverside Pavilion. The exhibit will remain open until May 31.
