Rescue pumper added to fire fleet

— Pea Ridge Fire Department has a new fire truck - a rescue pumper - which will be used to respond to all vehicle wrecks, according to assistant fire chief Andy Fletcher.

The 1979 Sutphen was rebuilt in 1997 and the transmission was rebuilt in 2006, according to Fire Chief Frank Rizzio.

“We got a really good deal on it,” Rizzio said of the truck which was purchased for just under $10,000 from the Findlay, Ohio, Fire Department.

The truck is equipped with emergency scene lights which will rotate 360 degrees and a generator which will provide power for other tools (such as extrication equipment), said Capt. Joshua King.

Capt. Brian Johnson said all extrication equipment, high angle ropes and other emergency equipment will be carried on the truck,
