Jr. High Blackhawk boys track team places 6th

— The Junior High Blackhawk boys track team had a season’s best sixth place finish out of 20 teams in the Eureka Springs Invitational last week. The Junior Lady ’Hawks could only muster a pair of points as they finished 19th of 19.

Austin Easterling, ninth- grade, had another good outing, scoring 10 individual points with fourth place finishes in the 400 and 1600runs along with helping the 4x400 meter relay to a fifth place finish.

Easterling ran a 60.15 time in the 400 while completing the mile in 5:23.84. The relay team was also composed of Logan Rose, Dalton Morgan and Zack Earley.

In the girls’ division, seventhgrader Rilee Patrick scored the only individual point with an eighth-place finish in the 1600 run. Patrick, who is the only Lady ’Hawk who has scored individually in every meet this season,ran a season’s best time of 6:31.

The ’Hawks got their other point with an eighth place finish in the 4x100 meter relay. Team members were Kayle Laster, Taylor Winn, Mikhaela Cochran and Felicia Walker.

Other scorers in the boys’ division were Daniel Beard, who like Easterling, came home with three ribbons. Beard took an eighth in the 100 (12.89), seventh in the shot put (37-5) and fifth in the 4x100 meter relay 49.6. He was joined in therelay by Logan Rose, Jonah Torres and one other unidentified athlete.

Jonah Torres took a sixth in the 200 meter dash in 26.78 with Braxton Caudill taking sixth in the discus throw with a 101-10 heave.

Top girl competitors for the girls include: Felicia Walker, 22nd in the 200 (15.22); Taylor Winn, 20th in the 200 (32.59);

Bailey Lessenberry, 18th in the400 (74.29); Mikhaela Cochrane, 12th in the long jump (12-5); and Chattin Cato, 20th in the shot put (26-4). The 4x400 meter relay finished 11th in 5:23.6 with Morgan, Lessenberry, Bell and Cochrane running legs.
