Martin Ellis Capehart

The Rev. Martin Ellis Capehart, 75, of Gentry, died March 31, at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital, Siloam Springs. He was born June 13, 1934, in Adair, Iowa, to Ray Ellis Capehart and Gladys Morgan Capehart.

Capehart lived in the area since 1994 and was an ordained minister through the Wesleyan Church. He married Zelda Hallowell in Cedar Creek Friends Church in Henry County, Iowa, on July 14, 1956.

Survivors include his wife, Zelda, of the home;

five sons, Martin Capehart Jr. and wife, Sherry, of Bentonville, Paul Capehart and Stephen Capehart, of Springtown, Ark., Daniel Capehart of Columbia Falls, Mont., and Joel Capehart and wife, Kamela, of Siloam Springs; 12 grandchildren; two sisters, Joan Palmer, of Miltonville, Kan., and Jeanne Cunningham, of Seligman, Mo.; and one brother, David Capehart, of Lowell, Ark.

Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m.

Friday, April 2, at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 3, at Wasson Memorial Chapel, Siloam Springs, with the Rev. David Hassell and the Rev. Raymond Anderson officiating. Burial followed at Springtown Cemetery, Springtown.

Pallbearers were Bruce Henman, Josh Granderson, David Goetz, Danny Berndt, Joseph Capehart, Bob Henderson, Tom Kennedy, Charles Schenck and Gary Rounds.

Harold Johnson

Harold L. Johnson, 50, of Seligman, Mo., passed away March 31, in Joplin, Mo. He was born Nov. 6, 1959, in Bentonville, to Leroy and Goldie Easter Johnson.

He was a landscaper and raised in the Pentecostal faith.

Johnson was preceded in death by his brother Timothy Johnson.

Survivors include his children, Angela, Wesley and Steven Johnson, all ofSeligman, Cynthia Rounds of Jane, Mo., and Catrina Johnson of Carthage, Mo.;

his parents, Leroy and Goldie of Seligman; his siblings, Ricky Johnson and Teresa Williams, both of Rogers, Debria Reed of Garfield, Eddie Johnson of Mountain Home, Roy Johnson of Seligman, Diana Elders and Kathy Hedden, both of Washburn, Mo.; and 13 grandchildren.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 2, at Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, at Walnut Hill Chapel with Tommy Dorey officiating.

Interment was in the Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Walter ‘Ralph’ Shrum

Walter “Ralph” Shrum, 67, of Bentonville died April 4, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Springdale. He was born Dec. 31, 1942, in Alpena, Ark., the son of Walter and Eva May Glenn Shrum.

He was a member of the Free Holiness Church in Springdale and was in maintenance work.

He was preceded by his parents; and one brother, Dennis Shrum.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Mannhalter Shrum, of the home; eight sons, David Shrum and Edith of Pea Ridge, Kenneth Shrum and Marleen of Springdale, Darrell Shrum and Doyle Shrum, both of Bentonville, Eric Housh of Fayetteville, Ricky Shrum and Jamie of Gentry, Roy Housh, Shannon Housh, all of Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Christina Housh of Omaha, Neb.; four brothers, Rendel Shrum and wife, Tina, and Lonnie Shrum, all of Springdale, James Shrum of Lincoln and Dale Shrum of Cherryville, Kan.; three sisters, Oletha Cannon of Cherryville, Ruby Haught of Reed Springs, Mo., and Carolyn Williams and Bill of Springdale; and numerous grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, with brother Dorsey Martin officiating.

Burial will follow at Sonora Cemetery under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be David Shrum, Kenneth Shrum, Darrell Shrum, Eric Housh, Ricky Shrum and Doyle Shrum.

Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Housh, Roy Housh, Paul Powell and Jay Persley.

Paul Douglas Speer

Paul Douglas Speer, 63 of Pea Ridge died Tuesday, March 30, at UAMS in Little Rock.

He was born April 29, 1946, in Lindsay, Okla., to the Rev. W.R.

Speer and Hazel Hunt er Speer.

Paul graduated from Potosi (Mo.) High School in 1964. He received an associate’s degree from Central Baptist College in Conway, and his ba degree in Biblical Studies from Southeastern Bible College in Laurel, Miss. Paul served in several Baptist Missionary Association churches where he was a music director, youth director, educational director, deacon and Sunday school teacher. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of Fellowship Bible Church and served as their accountant from 1993 to 2003.

Speer moved to northwest Arkansas in 1990 with his family. He loved baseball and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal’s and Arkansas Razorback’s fan.

Speer loved traveling, especially to Colorado, and enjoyed photography. But of all the things he enjoyed, his most joy came from loving and being with his wife, children, grandchildren and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Phyllis D. Robinson Speer of the home; a son, Derek Speer and his wife, Gretchen, of Rogers; two daughters, Alicia Smith and her husband, John, of Coffeyville, Kan.; Cara Speer of Rogers; six brothers Don Speer and his wife, Carolyn, of Rogers, James Speer andhis wife, Barbara, of Gary, Texas; John Speer and his wife, Jan, of Rison, Ark.;

Charles Speer and his wife, Linda, of Little Rock; David Speer and his wife, Angie, of Waxahachie, Texas; Ben Speer and his wife, Melissa, of Lakeland, Tenn.; two sisters Joyce Fagala and her husband, Dan, of Bella Vista; Mary Ceren and her husband, Dale, of Spring, Texas; and five grandchildren AnnaKathryn Smith, Hunter Smith, Deven Speer, Amelia Speer and Sadie Speer.

Visitation was from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the service on Friday, April 2, in the training center at Fellowship Bible Church.

Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday, April 2, in the training center at Fellowship Bible Church of northwest Arkansas with pastor Robert Cupp and pastor Mickey Rapier officiating.

Burial was in the Rogers City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in honor of Paul Speer to The Samaritan House, 1211 West Hudson Rd., Rogers, AR 72757.

Barbara C. Turner

Barbara C. Turner, 84, of Bentonville, passed Tuesday, March 30, at the Adams House in Bentonville.

She was born May 27, 1925, in Spokane, Wash., to Robert and Isabelle Chisholm.

Barbara was preceded in death by her late husband, Richard N. Turner.

Survivors include three sons and grandchildren: Marc Turner and wife, Marsha, of Burke, Va., and their daughter, Kate, and son-in-law, Mike Schneider; Scott Turner and wife, Barbara, of Garfield, their son Lt. Commander Adam and daughter-in-law, Rebecca Turner, their daughter, Krischa, and son-in-law, Justin Harrod and their children, Mason and Morgan; and Breck Turner and his fiancee, Patti Shaw of Scottsdale, Ariz., and their son, Ian Shaw.

A special thanks to Angel and Tesse Floro and to the Adams House Staff for the wonderful care as their resident for many years.

Junior Webb

Hugh Huntington Webb, Jr., 73, of Pea Ridge, died Friday, April 2, at his home.

He was born July 18, 1936, in Bentonville, to Hugh Huntington Webb, Sr., and Nellie Irene Chiles Webb.

Webb was a lifelong resident of Pea Ridge. He graduated from Pea Ridge High School in 1954 and went on to Draughns Business College in Springfield, Mo., and College of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Ark.

Webb was one of the founders of Pea Ridge Little League baseball in 1958. He and his father were instrumental in the development of the first Pea Ridge football program and the Pea Ridge Football Stadium in 1963.

He was a 32nd degree Mason.

He was one of the first board members of the Benton County Sunshine School which he continued to serve throughout the years, and the Pea Ridge Athletic Booster Club for many years. Over the past 19 years he worked at Fellowship Bible Church of northwest Arkansas and took great joy in serving at the Samaritan House ministries. He was known by many in the various children’s ministries as “Poppy” and loved his Wednesday morning Men’s Bible Study group. He was an avid Razorback fan and enjoyed playing golf.

One of his greatest joys was watching any sport or gamethat his granddaughters or grandsons were playing.

He had a deep love for God, his family and his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Eula Mae Walker.

Survivors include his wife and best friend of 53 years, Dortha “Dott” Lea Clardy Webb; two sons, Rick Webb and wife, Toni, and Rusty Webb, all of Pea Ridge; three daughters, Kim Brown and husband, John, and Kerrie Smith and husband, Mike, all of Pea Ridge, and Kellie Webb of Rogers;

10 grandchildren, Courtney and husband, Braxton Hurst, Alex Kelly, Kip Kelly, Tammy Webb, Randon Webb and Joe Goetz, all of Pea Ridge, Jenny Kate and Caroline Webb, both of Springdale, and Lindsay Kelly of Jacksonville, Fla.;

a great-granddaughter, Gracyn Lee Hurst, his little “Pee Wee”; a sister, Mabel McKinney and husband, Fred, of Pea Ridge; a brother-in-law, Russell Walker of Pea Ridge; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, prior to the service.

Funeral service was at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6, in the worship center at Fellowship Bible Church of northwest Arkansas with pastor Robert Cupp officiating.

Burial was in the Pea Ridge Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in honor of Hugh Webb, Jr., to Benton County Sunshine School, 3400 Woods Lane, Rogers, AR, 72756; or Pea Ridge Scholarship Association, 2063 Park Circle, Pea Ridge, AR, 72751.
