Knoll to travel to Europe

— Skylar Knoll of Washburn, Mo., was honored with theprivilege of serving as a Student Ambassador in the People to People program. This program was startedby Dwight D. Eisenhower and has been around for 53 years. Their mission statement is “To bridge cultural and political borders through education exchange, making the worlda better place for future generations.”

Knoll has been selected to travel to six countries in Europe this June as an Ambassador representing the state of Missouri.

During the trip, the group will travel to England, France, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands and Switzerland. They will share insight and discussion with key professionals, dignitaries, government experts and stay in “host” houses with a family that People to People preselects to give a personal insight to the lives of a Europeanfamily.

Some activities the group will participate in are changing of the guard in England, listening to an insider’s perspective on British government from a member of Parliament and walk on the beaches of Normandy, the site of Dday. Also, they will either plant trees or clear a riverbank in the Black Forest.

Knoll is currently a sophomore at Southwest R-5 school. He is involved in basketball, baseball, jazz band and is a sound academic student. He is involved in the youth atchurch and plays bass guitar at church.

He is the son of Scott and Susie Knoll and brother to Sean Knoll.

Any contributions will be greatly appreciated. Knoll is looking forward to the European trip and the things he can share with his school, community and church.
