Garfield Cleanup

GARFIELD - The Garfield semi-annual cleanup will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, behind the Short Stop on U.S. Hwy 62. No chemicals, tires, electronics or Freon will be accepted.

Country dance

SARCOXIE, Mo. - A country dance will be held starting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, at the Gene Taylor community building in Sarcoxie. Live band will be The Fun Timer's band. Cost is $4 each. A covered dish is optional. This dance is sponsored by the Sarcoxie Park board. No alcohol allowed. Fun for the family.

Submarine veterans

The USS Snook Base of United States Submarine Veterans in northwest Arkansas will host the formal decommissioning ceremony of the Diamond Chapter of Arkansas' WW II submarine veterans at 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at the Clarion Hotel in Bentonville. Friends and family of the these WW II submariners are invited to attend this ceremony. Train ride

SELIGMAN, Mo. - All aboard the Seligman train ride to Van Buren, Ark., Saturday, Oct. 10. There are still seats available in the vintage cars. Admission is $60 for adults, $54 senior, $35 child and 4 and under free. The train will go from Seligman to Van Buren during arts and crafts days in Van Buren, see the beautiful Boston Mountains, cross the rivers 15 times, go though a tunnel and cross three high trestles. 21st Annual Pea Ridge Mule Jump

The 21st annual Pea Ridge Mule Jump will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Pea Ridge High School. There will be halter class, a stick mule event for children, barrel and flag races, pole bending, hog calling and mule jumping!

The Flying Mule, a 5K run, will precede the event. Registration will begin at 6:45 a.m., with the race starting at 7:30 a.m. Entry fees will be $12 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under.
