Baker quits VAS

— A member of the VAS Ambulance Service Corporation Board of Directors resigned last week. Wes Baker, a member of the finance committee, said he resigned "under general principles."

"I don't want to hurt VAS," Baker said, adding that he still be lieves VAS is a "viable operation."

Believing his "participation is done," Baker resigned from the board which has seen several resignations, both from the board and of staff, since its newest board was elected less than a year ago.

VAS Service Corporation is the new name of the former Volunteer Ambulance Service of Northeast Benton County and serves the northeast area of Benton County, primarily Garfield, Gateway, Avoca and Lost Bridge and along U.S. Highway 62.
