School OKs $6 million

— A $6,487,300.79 budget was approved for the 2009-2010 school year during a special School Board meeting at 9 a.m.

Thursday, Sept. 17. That amount mirrors the amount listed as the actual ending balance for 2008-2009.

School superintendent Mike Van Dyke presented the 2009-2010 budget to the board and after a discussion of expenditures, revenues, balances and various building and renovation projects, the board approved the motion to accept the proposed budget. The motion was madeby Rick Webb and seconded by Darin Wright.

The operating fund for '08-'09 was $1,556,126.10 compared to $1,173,851.33 for this year. The building fund was $4,985,322.55 last year compared to $3,045,322.55 this year.

Last year $123,232.95 was the balance reported for federal grants with $246,729.04 listed for this year.

The activity balance increased with $93,488.18 last year and $100,999.18 this year.

Only three of the five board members were present at the meeting, along with Van Dyke and Patty Curtis.
