Pinto advances to Class 4A golf tourney

— Nikki Pinto of Pea Ridge is one of two local girls to advance to the Class 4A golf tournament after placing as individuals at last week's regional tournament.

Pinto and Gentry's Kelsea Whitten will be among the golfers at the state tournament at Eagle Mountain Golf Course in Batesville on Sept. 30.

Clarksville won the 4A Region 1 Tournament on Friday at Valley View Golf Course with a score of 306.

Clarksville's Madison Talley was the medalist with a 79.

Teams from Ozark (320)and Dardenelle (335) also advanced to the state tournament.

Berryville's Jody King beat Pinto in a one-hole playoff to take individual runner-up honors. Both shot 94.

Prairie Grove's Morgan Boatright (97), Huntsville's Kelsey McClure (122),Whitten (105) and Prairie Grove's Hailey Sweigart (106) qualified for the state tournament as individuals.

The 4A Region I Boys Tournament is Tuesday at The Creeks Golf Course.

Their state tournament is scheduled for Oct. 7 at DeGray State Park Golf Course.
