Historic essay contest

— The Arkansas Historic Preservation Program and Radio Disney are inviting Arkansas students to enter the annual "Historic Moment in Arkansas" essay invitational, AHPP Director Frances McSwain announced.

Students in two age brackets - fourth and fifth grades and sixth and seventh grades - are invited to submit 500-word essays on any historic Arkansas property that is 50 years old or older. Essays should include information on the property's history, when and why it was built, and its current function. Students should cite at least one reference source.

Entries will be judged on content, spelling, grammar and references. Radio Disney will present one winner in each age bracket with an 8G Apple iPod Nano and interviews with the winners will be broadcast on Radio Disney during December on "A Historic Moment in Arkansas."

Entries can be mailed to Radio Disney, 415 N.
