In His Study Do you have room for Christ?

— On Sept. 6, 1909, just 100 years ago, word was received that Admiral Peary had discovered the North Pole, only that it had occurred five months earlier.

It had taken five months to get the word back home.

Deacon Bob Daniels, a long-time member of Mountain Bible Church, was born less than 10 years after this event. Today we can know something is happening in the space, above the North Pole, while it is happening.

One hundred years ago the Wright brothers were trying to show that the air-o-plane could serve the military and civil uses. The air-o-plane today not only flies well it has moved into outer space (space shuttle).

Nearly every family in America has moved from WATCHING automobiles to having two cars in the driveway (the garages have been filled with "stuff").

Instead of sitting around the radio and listening with our hands over our hearts to "The Shadow," we have televisions and computers that let us see at any given moment what is happening anywhere in the world.

Halley's Comet was first recorded on a photographic plate on Sept. 9, 1909, 100years ago today (Wednesday). Now anyone may look at pictures of Halley's Comet by a search on the Internet.

The church first appeared on Pentecost in the first century and 3,000 souls received Christ on that day. But the church has moved from being a missionary church, sending missionaries to every point on the globe, to joining the world in saying that the nationals should not be shown the religion of Christianity so that they may maintain their own culture. So, we the church have joined the worldly folks by sending, instead of Christ, the stuff from our garages, and so changed their culture anyway. Unfortunately their new culture now has "no room" for Christ.

It would seem that people haven't changed, not just in 100 years, but in over 2,000 years. But thank the Lord that He has changed me. How about you?
