LITTLE ROCK — New fall hours were set for the Pea Ridge Youth Center. During football season, the center will not be open Friday nights, except for home games.

The center has 116 members.

Voters in Washington and Benton Counties went to the polls Sept.

23 to determine the fate of the proposed regional airport for northwest Arkansas.

The Pea Ridge Student Council was excited about raising $57 from a car wash and bake sale.

With the money, they were able to finish the marquee. They also decided to sell pencils, paper and other school supplies for 10 to 15 minutes every morning before school.

With the payment of $642 on Sept. 11, the City of Pea Ridge made its final payment on the purchase of the new city hall. Since 1970, the total paid was $7,890. A comparable building constructed would have cost the city between $80,000 and $100,000.

A share fair was scheduled for the afternoon of Sept. 30 at the Pea Ridge City Park. Sponsored by the Pea Ridge Park Commission, the event was a "show and tell, buy and sell" happening for craftsmen and collectors or hobbyists. The purpose was to afford a meeting place for artists and craftsmen or farm producers.

At least eight to 10 people were needed to hold night classes at Pea Ridge High School for thosewishing to obtain their GED.

Thursday, Sept. 21, 1989

With just nine days before a lawsuit was to be heard before a judge, the City of Garfield and Pershing and Towanda Barnett settled out of court.

The suit was filed against the city by the Barnetts over a dispute of water rights.

The Pea Ridge City Council approve at their Monday meeting a pay increase for city Marshal Sam Holcomb. The $500 per month increase came after being hired for the marshal position in early July.

Saturday's political rally held at Pea Ridge High School drew a couple of hundred people who heard pitches from the school board candidates and from the supporters of the school district millage increase. The result of the election was an increase of 9.7 mills for the school district.

Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999

Officers from a number of area law enforcement agencies made a drug bust that was the culmination of two years of work. The officers caught the alleged criminals unaware and not single shot was fired when theyconverged on the 40-acre farm off Benton County 40. Six people were arrested.

Pea Ridge Military Park held its sixth annual observance of National Constitution Week Sept.

17-24. Visitors of all ages participated by signing their names to a copy of the U.S. Constitution.

Winners of Twelve Corners Baptist Church's sixth annual dessert contact were pictured with their ribbons. The winners were Brad Littrell with chocolate cheesecake, Lane Wallis with earthquake ice cream, pastor Rick Booyer with strawberries on a cloud and Kevin Trevathan with apple pie.
