President's speech aired in school

— At Pea Ridge Primary School, students were sent home with a letter regarding President Barak Obama's speech airing Tuesday. If parents object by sending a note with their child or calling, the child would not view the speech.

The Pea Ridge Intermediate School will neither broadcast nor record the speech, as officials have decided the information isn't pertinent to students in grades 3-5 as it would be to older children.

Pea Ridge Middle School also sent home a letter Friday for parents to sign. The school will be recording the speech, then showing it at a later date, most likely later this week, according to school officials. If students do not watch the speech, they will participate in a different history activity.

At Pea Ridge High School, no letter was sent to parents and students were told if they did not choose to attend the showing of the recorded speech at noon today, they would not have to.
