— Granny's Quilts of Love

Granny's Quilts of Love met at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. Alice Henson led the meeting in prayer and welcomed back Mary Margaret Webb. Marge Crowder conducted the meeting. There were 22 members present.

The total count of quilts made as of Aug. 17 is 8,655, along with 1,473 pillows and 1,355 caps.

Final arrangements were discussed for the dinner and auction that was held Saturday, Aug. 29. Alice Henson reported on the donations for the auction and that the youth group from her church would help again this year. They met at the high school at 9 a.m. Saturday morning to get the cafeteria ready.

Several thank you cards were read from families whose children received quilts.

The new goal is to make 10,000 quilts by Jan. 1, 2010.

Syreeta Anthony from Wal-Mart Distribution Center 6045 presented Granny's Quilts of Love with a check for $1,000.

Since the meeting, the group had the dinner and auction, which was very successful. A huge thank you to all the members of Granny's Quilts for all the hard and long hours of work to make it successful. Thank you to the community of Pea Ridge for coming to the dinner and supporting this cause. Dawson Crowder won the GE washer and dryer, congratulations Dawson.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Mt. Vernon Presbyterian Church in Pea Ridge. This will be a cutting meeting, be sure to bring scissors. For more information, contact Mary Margaret Webb at 451-8640 or Pat Patterson at 451-1500.
