’Hawks beat Elks

— Fifth-grade ’Hawks enjoyed another victory against the Elkins Elks Saturday. Elkins started off going three plays and out and opting to punt. The ’Hawks wasted no time marching 79 yards on six plays with Cole Wright finding the end zone on a 10-yard scamper around the left side.

On the two-point conversion a ’Hawks penalty pushed the ball back to the 8-yard line, but the young ’Hawks would not be denied as Wright scrambled in.

The next series for the Elks was unsuccessful as the ’Hawks held Elkins to three and out and another punt. The next play for Pea Ridge went 76 yards to paydirt as Jacob Torres broke loose of the left side for a touchdown. The two-point conversion was successful. The game continued in the ’Hawks’ favor, scoring twice more on a 14-yard TD from Torres and a 10-yard jaunt from Brandon Johnson.

Both PATs were good as Johnson and fullback Zaine Holley ran in from three yards out.

The ’Hawks are 6-0 as they prepare for Gentry on Oct. 24 in Gentry.
